Whoever arranged that Xbox Developer Direct really fucked that South of Midnight game. If you told me the person at Microsoft that chose what went where had it out of Compulsion Games, I’d believe it, because having that action game follow those two Ninja Gaiden reveals was kind of fucked up.

I’m almost surprised it’s taken this long for a PlatinumGames Ninja Gaiden 4. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance very much felt like PlatinumGames making their version of a Ninja Gaiden game, Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry are pretty different styles of action game and Revengeance felt like them doing the style they aren’t known for, the beginning of the second stage (the first real stage of the game) even starts with that cutscene on the ocean that looks like the intro of the Team Ninja logo. Now 12 years after Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance they’re actually making a Ninja Gaiden game, and there’s aspects of it that look a whole fucking lot like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

I wonder if you’ll be able to combine weapons like in Revengeance. Looks like they brought the Revengeance Ninja Run back for this.

I don't trust modern Platinum Games with this IP. I'd rather have the OG Team Ninja guys working on it. Best case scenario, they're being directly supervised by series director Hayashi?

Watch and wait.

You probably wouldn’t trust the OG Team Ninja guys either.

Most of the original team left with Tomonobu Itagaki a long time ago. I can’t see I really see way someone would be pessimistic about Platinum but hopeful about Hayashi. Hayashi was the director on Ninja Gaiden 3.

Yakumo gameplay being 90% parryslop clearly ripped off by MGRR makes it even more concerning.

Itagaki is a drunk retard that lost his chance at remaking Devil's Third because he was too much of an asshole to show up at work. It doesn't have an ounce of talent left and doesn't give a shit either. He's everything wrong with game directors that think they are the hot shit and larp as wannabe rockstars when they are actually a single cog in a machine, just as replaceable as the janitor

Platinum Games.

This looks like: Ninja Gear Rising. Maybe it will be a good game, but doesn´t look like a Ninja Gaiden one.

It made more sense with the Xbox game. Back then Ninja Gaiden may as well have just been two different games that came out in 1988. Ryu Hayabusa was mostly known for the Dead or Alive games, so much so that he largely was never seen as a guest character in DoA despite being that. Now Ninja Gaiden is a vastly more popular series, and people have been waiting for a Ninja Gaiden as good as the second one for 17 years now.

Ninja Gaiden 4 looks more like Ninja Gaiden 3 gameplay wise than the Ninja Gaiden 3 the Sigma team made. It also seems to be a direct follow-up to Ninja Gaiden 2, which I’m sure is why this new Black version of Sigma 2 got released.

Looks like Metal Gear Rising with an izuna drop move.

Maybe will be a good game but doesn't look like Ninja Gaiden aesthetically or gameplay wise. I would have been happier if Nioh team tried to do a Ninja Gaiden game than hiring Platinum to do it.
