Tech TV NWN review: The 60-hour campaign included with "NWN" isn't superfluous. It's long, bold, and features the kind of slick storytelling BioWare is known for. You can create any character race and class you like and immediately you're immersed in the story line.

Tech TV SoU review: Lame. Dull. These are words that come to mind when we think of the single-player adventure released with the original "Neverwinter Nights" title.

Thats...pretty two faced. I also remember there being praise for NWNs awesome graphics. Someone was high on the smell of freshly printed money that time, that's for sure.

Possibly 2 separate reviewers?

As for some reviewers falling over themselves praising the hell out of a game and then saying something negative months or a year later: I'm pretty sure some of these reviewers play the first 10 hours of a game (if even that much) and then to beat others to the punch, they post their reviews, without having fully experienced the game.

That much is obvious by some of the comments made and also from the lack of any real "meat" to some of these reviews. Seriously, I would say a huge percentage of the Oblivion reviews lacked any kind of in-depth analysis on any component of the game. Don't even recall seeing any comparisons to Morrowind or Daggerfall.

I wonder how gamespot would explain their score of FO tactics (8.3) or their FO bos (7.3) and then turn around to bad mouth it, because those scores (according to gamespot) are above average.

you could also read the codex thread "some thoughts on the fallout 3 article", more importantly the posts by a poster named "robur" who works as a writer for german game magazines. back then he kind of criticised his "american collegues" and promised he had better infos but couldnt talk about it until his preview was posted.

well, his preview is the top-title in the german pc action magazine and guess what ?
its absolutely the same shit as all those other fallout 3 previews. i thought about translating it but my time is limited right now and seriously... its not worth it since its 99% the same as the english fallout 3 previews.

funnily enough i remember him complaining about profanity and bad language around here, yet it turns out he wrote for PC-action which is all about profanity and bad language, seriously what a douche.

oh yeah, the only sacrifice fallout fans are making with fallout 3 is giving up 2d graphics (omg, who d have thought that ?!) and "some freedom", but VATS could be really cool.
thanks for letting us know, robur. game journalism at its best !

From this topic over on NMA:

One of the best Oblivion reviews I've read, and even better, it's written by a guy called Tim Rogers, which is also the name of Australia's greatest living rock legend.

A little rambling, but he touches on some good points. Thx for the link. Yes, some crunch and some daring is indeed what Oblivion is missing. It's too smooth.

Really? I didn't know he worked for PC Action, I've heard only bad things about that magazine.

Spotted his short preview on Buffed.de. Nothing new there.

The preview of PC Action says the preview is 8-page long, preview image shows an amusing timeline of Fallout that includes BoS for some reason.

Any interesting quotes?

I might have found a decent Fallout 3 preview....No, I am not pulling your leg. Its in one of the local mags here in Aus, PC Powerplay, and it seems fairly non-bias. Its also fairly large...so I will copy it out later in a post when i have time.

Save to text file before posting. If you post and find the bottom cut off, post part #2 in a post below post #1. Limit is pretty high though. Only time I've passed it were in some seriously long arguments.

Wow, you mean PC Powerplay are trying to claw back all that credibility they lost over NWN?
