There's a fairly short review of TES4: Oblivion over at Gameguru Mania. The score is a 94% and it's one of those that says there are problems with the game but doesn't actually mention them. Here's a clip:

The world of the Elder Scrolls is entirely non-linear. Oblivion features a groundbreaking new AI system, called Radiant AI, which gives non-player characters (NPCs) the ability to make their own choices based on the world around them. Rather than following pre-scripted paths, every NPC is given a set of general goals they'd like to achieve, but the details of fulfilling that goal is entirely up to them. If a citizen is hungry, they'll look for a way to get food. They might buy food, hunt it, or steal it, then find a place to sit to eat and so on. This means that every one of the game's NPCs follows a full 24/7 schedule that continues whether or not the player is there to witness it. They'll sleep, go to church, and even steal items, all based on their individual characteristics.

Of course, they forgot to mention the part about the Radiant AI being very, very broken.

EDIT: This video is all you need to know about how great the AI is in the game.

That aint a review, that's pasting PR. Anyone who has actualy played the game will see the the AI is nowhere near capable of what is was hyped up as.

Correct. This shit could be 100 % copy and pasted from Bethesta's PR Department.

It seems that this fuckwit "reviewers" dont even try to hide that their "reviews" are basicly commercials for the game.

Yup. It sometimes amazes me how game reviews fail to do the single most important part of their job, telling the consumer what they may not like in the game.

I don't think there are any real game reviews. Note that I didn't add "anynmore" at the end, since I was reading some old Game Players and EGM's and they are all basically PR copy/paste bullshit blowjobs. I think Nintendo Power was more honest about the games inside than sites like the one just mentioned.

i must say that after applying some mods, Oblivion is quite worthwhile.

A game is, or should be, rated for what it is straight out of the box -- mods not included, just what ever's on the installation disk.
Otherwise, yes, with some mods, Oblivion can be entertaining for a bit, as an action adventure game, but not as a CRPG (which nearly every fucking reviewer is branding it as).

I don't know if I take that attitude - for most games I don't ever bother with mods, it's true. Still, the real problem is that while the mods seem to make oblivion less crappy, they don't seem to do anything to actually make it good.

Mods can't fix the retardiant AI or the crappy main quest or the seemingly tedious arcade combat.

Well, it really depends on what you like in terms of games, I guess.

There are those that only like RPGs, who should definitely stay away from the game. And then there are those who like RPGs, but who also like the Action-Adventure genre, who might (again, depending on their tastes) find something interesting in it. I think that I fall in the latter category. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly that I like about the game, but it's there... I guess it's just the fact that there isn't a bad amount of stuff to do.

With mods, I've fixed the UI, fixed the leveling, fixed the item & monster scaling, fixed the graphics, et cetera. I think that I've fixed a lot of things, although, as you mentionned, not the Retarded AI, nor the shit quests. But, I'm sure that with time will come better fan-made quests.

I'd rate Oblivion a pile of steaming shit out of ten if it didn't have a modding capability (oh, well I guess that that would be the Xbox 360 version). But with mods, I'd give it a 7.9/10?

Seems to be some spelling issues around here lately.

Yeah, and you're gay, but at least I can go out and buy a dictionary.
