The game will always shadow the books, no matter how much it tries to stand on its own -- certain things that are outside the conventions of gaming will follow in suit of this -- such as branching character views. I believe the Witcher books (only read the two English ones) have such scenes, but unfortunately I cannot recall.
Branching character views are pretty much stapple of any novel. Multiple parallel plot threads are actually part of a definition of novel, at least in Poland.

The thing is that game is a different medium with it's own rules, strengths and limitations. If ou actually control the protagonist, you should, generally be limited to protagonist's knowledge (with a few permissible exceptions if they can't really affect your behaviour) and you should be limited to controlling this protagonist and at most his immediate allies in the same area if it's required by gameplay (party based cRPGs). Stennis or Henselt when they duke it out don't really fit such criteria.

Source, Roguey?
What evdk said. Those boards are long gone but it's been preserved forever
Also this was pretty funny too: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/j-e-sawyer-challenge-to-tim-cain.1922/#post-17685
POP CAIN'S FRUIT STAND should be a location in Eternity. No oranges in stock.
Luckily nothing on the Internet is truly dead, even if it might appear so:

I knew that he made some pretty controversial decisions during VB development that didn't go down well, but I didn't know he got so emotional defending them on the forums. Maybe it's why he seems so robotic and happy to potshot his own games now when discussing and analyzing them.

Personal maturity, or the internetz broke JE Sawyer, whatever floats your boat.

(Unrealistic goal, but would be nice to get $5mil)

I think they can get about 3,5-4 million if they manage to get lot of hype with at least one or two updates. They need to whore get themselves to the news sites much more and more visibly.

Whoring isn't enough. They need to come up with some impressive new announcement or stretch goal, like when Brian pulled out the MCA card.

That's what I meant with hype with the updates. Getting George Ziets as one of the 2.2+ stretchgoals would probably the surge.

I really don't agree with that "pikachu I choose you" tactic because we already have MCA (the card that BF used), TC (Troika) and JS (who made NV, which is a recent and well received game).
And the fact is George Ziets is a quite less known figure.
Even asking for former artists like Justin Sweet or Jeremy Soule.
I mean, having them on the team would be great!, but are they really money movers?

The campaign is not bad at all, but I was expecting something a _lot_ more money than BF got.
And I don't agree with the "I don't know nothing about the game" argument, because you have the same info that BF gave you (viewpoint, combat, party based, PST level like companions, artistic direction like ToEE). If not more.
Is it the KS fatigue? The end of month (and don't have the paycheck yet)?

kaizoku KS fatigue, or perhaps an inherent upper limit on the number of RPG fans in the world willing to donate to a Kickstarter, no matter how promising.

Jeremy Soule is actually pretty well known. It would boost the kickstarter for sure and I personally would be glad too because I mostly enjoy his works.

The fuck's wrong with Merin?

He doesn't post much on the BSN because he considers BioWare to be making dumbed down shit for the horny masses, yet all he does on the Obsidian forums is do the exact same thing that Biodrones do and talk about romance.

I suspect because most RPG fans also want to give their money to a finished product too. For all they know, it could be XCOM remake all over again. Which is understandable, but I think they will drop their next stretch goal nearing the 2.2 mark. I'm guessing more languages supported (Potato, etc) and a bigger majestic world with dragons :smug:

No fscking clue what his deal is. That guy pisses me off tremendously for some reason.

Gaider was probably reading this thread about our RAGE over the romance faggotry and then suggested it on the BSN. So basically he can troll Obsidian AND the Codex.

Well done Gaider. And troll he did.

:excellent:
