He said something about killing innocent people and going into the prison assassinate som poor sucker there. Sounds like pretty fun quest-thingies, even forces you to make a kind of moral decision.

Also there was something about holidays that sounded like a nice little detail.

Did that one guy have a red face...? :?

Yeah, haven't you heard of Redguards you dolt? Black guys being called red was too confusing to Bethesda's target audience so they recoloured them.

The way they clearly make up for this bit of racial insensitivity is by making everyone have negroid features. Now I understand about the prevelance of the wide noses.

What about the Srilankan features? Oh wait...

If they make everyone pretty, people complain that everyone is too pretty and nonbelieveable. So, they make the faces very diverse, and everyone still complains. Fucking A.

Face diversity is a great thing indeed - I just don't see why everyone has flat broad noses. When's Bethesda going to announce it's due to i being a fantasy game, and it's a... uh... eh... due to an active choice on the artist's part. So it feels less like going to the mall.

They could've just renamed them Niguards or something, no reason to make them all redheaded. Not that being black is gonna help a thief any if there's no shadows to sneak in, hardy harr harr.

Of course people are going to complain if you make the faces diverse. We do that in real life though man. If someone's really ugly looking (srilankan wood elf) then we point and make fun. That's the nature of the beast here man. We actually just making fun. Not really complaining.

However, if every NPC was as ugly as that danged elf, then yeah, you'd have some complaints, because then our own character would be pretty ugly too. Not to many people want that, many of us want to RP a person who is much more beautiful than the rest of the crowd, it's vanity (before I get flamed, let me make it clear that I said MOST people, not ALL).

Guys, do you even know what the hell a Sri Lankan person is or are you just all giggling at the funnee looking word for a funnee looking guy. Because I'm having a hard time seeing what you are all guffawing about.

First of all, go look at the website screens of the knight-ish guy standing alone in the corridor. It looks pretty normal to me. And the other screenshots we got have less-then-pretty people on them. There may be a higher proportion of screens with ugly people on them, but we've already seen screens with normal looking characters so we know that facegen isn't some messed up thing that can only produce fat faced npcs.

I think putting that in a quote would have been a lot easier.

Dont know what the big deal is here with people preferring to sidestep actually answering questions with some witty comments. Don't be afraid.

I am ugly & watch fantasy porn

Now com on, don't you think that ugly people would prefer to have a game with only pretty people? Like certain people around this thread?

Post count+1

Considering I actually replied to the thread, whereas you posted a funneee pix, I think this may be applied the wrong way.

If you mean http://www.elderscrolls.com/images/art/ob_pc/obliv04B.jpg <--that guy, I think that is a younger version of the same face they ended up using for the emperor, as well as for that bard from the E3 video - which does have the gorilla nose syndrome. I think the nose looks alright from this perspective, but from the front, as we've seen, it looks strangely fat. Either Facegen has difficulties with thin noses or whoever is responsible for this aspect of the game is just really bad at using Facegen.

We haven't seen the nose of that specific character from the front but I think anyone would say that it doesn't look like one of the chubby ones present in other screens. It looks fairly normal and at least proves that facegen can produce normal results.

The point is you should chose your battles more wisely. Some things are not worth the effort and/or are pointless arguing about around here.

EDIT: Also, the whole "i dont understand what is funnee-thing" is silly. Live and let live mmkay.

Uh, are you saying that as long as you're at the Codex you should just shut up and accept the opinions of everyone else?

You're saying that a part of Oblivion sucks based on the screenshots you saw, even though there were other screenshots that indicated that it could produce normal faces. And this is something that is pointless discussing?

Nah, I think the "srilankanwoodelf" thing is a bit sillier than that.

Go watch that E3 video again and look at that pic for comparison - its the same face. I have fooled around with facegen and produced what looked like a normal face to me, at least when viewed within the facegen program, so I don't quite get it either, but the wide nose on supposedly European archetypes just looks odd. Maybe this is just bad usage of the program? I mean, there are plenty of people with fat noses out there, but when you think of Germanic peoples, like the clothing, armour, and surroundings in Cyrodiil suggest, you mostly think of thin noses. If you want a scientific explanation, it can be theorized that European man evolved from surviving harsh climes during the ice age, and the thinner noses we have could be a mutation to make inhaling icy air easier on our nasal passages (and brains). So, its not just a pointless thing to poke at - white folks with predominantly wide noses is unnatural looking and an example of bad design.

I'm saying some posts are deliberately provocative/stupid/silly and not worth responding to if one values one's mental sanity.

Yes, I understand you feel that way, but there's no need to police other people's sense of humor.

Whatever. There's already joking about those weird black people thingies with weirdo dark skin, why not extend to the rest of the world. What's with those freaky mexican people?? I've never seen one but the word sure sounds hilarious.

Wide noses directly affect your endurance and athletic performance, as they allow easier oxygenation of your muscles. The more air you can take in will while exerting yourself will actually make your muscles perform even better, instead of just getting winded (which is a misnomer, since you run out of air). That's why Neanderthals were so uber-strong and fast, because the more they exerted themselves the stronger they became. Of course, you also need strong lungs, which they had. :)

Well, I see them all the damn time because they're taking over the area I live in. I don't share your multicultural sensitivities, and neither do they, actually. The differences between us are what they are, and they aren't going away. Joking about it is better than pretending they don't exist or being forced to say that we just love each other to death if we don't.
