Some dude, editor of Game Informar- sorry Informer:
"Got the cover art in today for the next issue. Giant sequel not at E3, and the art...well, fantasy nuts are gonna crap themselves"

Elderscrolls 5 is not at e3, a fantasy game, popular, been two years since last major Bethsoft game, has a history of being announced in magazines that nobody buys ergo Elderscrolls 5 is being announced in a few weeks.

Get off the internet while you still can.

The wait is finally over! If I had never played Oblivion (or Fallout 3 for that matter), I would be shitting my pants now. Bethesda sucks.

nah, f3 was an improvement on oblivion. if tes5 is as much of an improvement on f3 as f3 on tes4 and they continue to steadily improve, chances are tes8 with mods might turn out an actually enjoyable game that isn't completely retarded.

From this I expect that TES5 will be the same boring, medieval era-inspired crap just like Oblivion because that's what people called "fantasy-nuts" are craving for. "Fantasy nuts" is synonymous with tolkien-sucking bitches. Fuck we'll never see something like Morrowind again.

Just give me a decent base game with a somewhat interesting setting that can be modded to shit. That's all I ask. Is that too much to ask?

Do Skyrim. Skyrim would be good. You can please Tolkien nuts with the southern parts bordering Cyrodiil, have loads of weird exotic stuff in the more remote areas, lots of lawless wilderness to explore, a heavy helping of batshit lore about warriors gods, Norse mythology influence everywhere and political trauma about the fallout from Morrowind's catastrophes and the racial feuds.

Who am I kidding :(

There's also the furry lands, but I'm assuming those are (thankfully) too exotic. Based on hints dropped in Oblivion and subsequent semi-official lore, it's looking fairly likely to be either Skyrim or Summurset Isle - High Elf land - and from what I remember, the latter is pretty generic high-fantasy-Disneyland. But high elves are dicks and they're really boring and I really hope it's not.

But I'm still somewhat excited :/

high-elf kingdom is unlikely, since bethesda has this tendency of making them all into bad guys...still...

LONELY HERO WAKES UP ON ISLAND AFTER HIS SHIP HAS BEEN SUNK. HE WAKES UP AND SEES THE LAND OF EVIL. THE LAND OF HIGH ELVES. WILL HE SURVIVE? HOW MANY IS HE ABLE TO KILL UNTIL HE DIES? SEE YOURSELF IN TES V COMING SOON

considering the only places that still remain unexplored in gameplay are skyrim and the wood-elf-funland, your guess probably isn't far off the mark.

What makes you think they're going to get their own setting right ? Cyrodiil turned into the opposite of what it was supposed to be in pre-Oblivion TES lore you shouldn't expect anything out of Skyrim.

Cyrodiil used to be a jungle.. until they made it a bog standard medieval forest in Oblivion.
If they want to please the Tolkien-fags playing RPG on their KIDBOX they have no choice but to make yet another medievalfantacrap.

Maybe it will be MORROWIND ALL OVAR AGAIN, since post apoc is in these days. Bethesda alone is releasing at least 3 post apoc titles. Rage, Brink, FNV... anything else?

Hence the "who am I kidding", they're just going to turn it into Cyrodiil with more snow, and that's if we're lucky.

Other barely-explored settings would be the Redguard homeland - think we only got to see part of it in Daggerfall - Elsweyr and Black Marsh, both probably too exotic for them now, and mainland Morrowind. Mainland Morrowind would be really interesting, given the recent events around there (the rock over Vivec crashed into Vvardenfell and Red Mountain erupted), but it seems unlikely.

Or hey, who knows? Maybe it'll be Fallout 4: The Elder Scrolls, revealing that the "real" world in the Fallout setting is all a mass psychotic dream of the population of Morrowind following the great catastrophe.

Magic may be gone from the world, and the elf races mutated into deathclaws and super-mutants, but war... war never changes.

Aren't the khajit lands a big ass desert? That would be more interesting than valenwood or summurset (which I assume would be turned into tolkien disneyland)

Redguard land would be cool too, sail like a pirate.

Dunno about Breton land, but it sounds boring. Which means it's probably going to be the one they choose.

Black Marsh could be cool too, probably the only one that can be made to sorta look like morrowind (the bitter coast, at least).

skyrim would be made into solstheim.

http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/many-headed_talos.shtml

From The Many-Headed Talos

"And after the throne of Alinor did finally break at the feet of Men, and news of it came to the Dragon Emperor in Cyrodiil, he gathered his captains and spoke to them, saying:

"'You have suffered for me to win this throne, and I see how you hate jungle. Let me show you the power of Talos Stormcrown, born of the North, where my breath is long winter. I breathe now, in royalty, and reshape this land which is mine. I do this for you, Red Legions, for I love you.'"

This is the official explanation of why Cyrodiil wasn't a jungle in Oblivion. Seriously.
They will rape their own setting as they see fit in order to streamline it for the kidbox. They can take any part of their setting and turn into a bland, medieval fantasy borefest invoking the power of the gods to change the climate and the land for the new shit.

Sounds like we have ourselves a closet furry.

Considering my other fetishes, furry doesn't even register.

Anyway, Desert / Swamp > elves frolicking in the forest, regardless of inhabitants. And are the ones with the least chances of being raped like Cyrodil.
