Open TES is getting a new release, 0.15.0

OpenTESArena is an open-source engine re-implementation for "The Elder Scrolls: Arena" by Bethesda Softworks. It aims to be a modern replacement for the 1994 engine with native support for Windows, Linux, and macOS.The highlight of this release is the overhaul of the renderer to more closely match the original game's look and feel. Release page is here: https://github.com/afritz1/OpenTESAre...Still pre-alpha and gameplay will come later. Recorded on Ryzen 9 7950X.

At least it's inching closer to a full release. Of all TES to get an open source engine re-implementations, Arena is the only of the classics (the first three) to not have one that is out of alpha.

Both are primarily difficult in the early game due to the potential for hitting you with things you don't have the resources to deal with yet, things that need hard counters (cure disease) where you don't have the hard counter yet. Arena's difficulty, at least when playing as a mage (which you should be. The spell editor and crazy stuff you can do is the main appeal of Arena), disappears once you hit level 10+ (near automatic) and have any idea of what you're doing with the spell editor. Daggerfall's difficulty after the opening is in the stupid dungeons (even the main quest ones are horribly designed) which never really goes away.
