Unironically thought it stood for 'console' for the first year or so after encountering the term.

It's never been a very useful category, and it's significantly worse now that there's so little difference between computers and consoles, especially in regards to rpgs.

Who browses shit via categories any more anyways? Tag based systems are far more useful, and if you're dealing with people, simply referencing a particular game is the way to go. "Recommend me a good crpg" is like saying "Recommend me a good haircut."

I misunderstood your point. I didn't realize you were saying it wasn't narrow enough, I apologize. However I'd still disagree because it is narrow enough if you just want to play an rpg.
Just as, recommend a good horror film is narrow enough if you don't care about the specific type. In the same way, recommend a good film is narrow enough if you don't care at all about the genre.
