Completed Play-by-Post: In Search of the Sorcerer

[Wayward Son]

"You're a bard, are you not? Post-ceremony you could say you're going on a trip and never have to... consummate." Mab says, trying to hide a wry smirk.

 

[Siveon]

Marcan sighs, "You'd be surprised how many bards like to reside in one area for long - regardless she already made sure I wouldn't leave." He lays upon the ground, defeated.

 

[Wayward Son]

"Who knows, maybe all the years she's been alive will have imparted some extra... experience. She might teach you a thing or two." Mab is snorting with suppressed laughter at this point.

 

[Siveon]

"Alright, anyone else? Borric you've been quiet. By my ancestor's name I could use a pint." Marcán says, rubbing one of his temples, still on the ground.

 

[Wayward Son]

Mab bursts out laughing. After a couple of seconds, he says, "I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. Seriously though, there must be some way out of this for you. Can you explain the finer points of the predicament to me?"

 

[Llywelyn ap Gruffydd]

"Cousin, what is this talk about marrying the crone? That sounds, very much unlike you. I am a bit shocked."

Cormac looks down and flips the knife over a few times in his hand after he speaks to his cousin. He shakes his head a bit and shrugs his shoulders.

"I've seen daggers such as these before, buried with priests. I do not know what they were used for though."

 

[Siveon]

"It is none of your business, but suffice to say I get this rope to banish the beast, and I wed the witch, as well as giving her an heir. That is all. I am being used, but I have my pride, so I won't try and weasel out of a formal agreement. I also don't intend on drawing the ire of a witch." He grimaces.

"If you all don't mind, I'd rather try and get some rest." He takes out his bedroll.

 

[Grimgravy]

"There must be something special about her if she expects get with child at her age. Joking aside, perhaps you will gain something for for 'sacrifice.' I'll take first watch. I suggest Borric and Marcán be spared a watch to aid their recovery."

 

[Helly]

"You know Marcan, it's a rite of passage in most druid circles that apprentices have to spend some time at the local forest witch's hut before they become *true* druids. And I can tell you that time and nature have done nothing to enhance their charms, far from it... Still, despite this, the tradition has remained and not a single druid has ever complained about this ritual. I am bound to secrecy, but don't worry too much, my friend. I'm sure it'll turn out OK for you!"

 

[Siveon]

Marcán etches a smile, "Thanks, Ker. Rhenmyr."

 

[Wayward Son]

"As far as Talorc is concerned, I just realized that I may not have the pull to make such charges. However, Maelgwyn, my mentor is only a week's travel away, if you'd like to get his help."

 

[L'ennui]

Urash, who has been fiddling with the orb he has found at the pool and chuckling at the jests pointed at Marcán, perks up when Mab speaks of his mentor;

"Say, is there any chance your mentor might know what this artifact... thing... is?"

 

[Wayward Son]

"Quite possibly. He is wise beyond his years, and he has many more of those than I, let me tell you. At the very least, I think he's worth a try, don't you?"

 

[L'ennui]

"Certainly. Do any here think we should rush in to confront Talorc right away? I myself am quite confident that he will still be lording over Crannógmere when we feel we can oust him. Having a Drune of venerable standing at our side would certainly give us more credence, it may be worth the detour. What do you all think?"

Urash looks expectantly to the others for their opinion, but can't help but smile when he crosses eyes with Marcán. Urash winks, his teeth show through his jet black beard and he chuckles playfully:

"Friend Marcán, I am afraid we will have to disregard your view on the matter, since we can all attest that your lust for the mature, nay the ripe old crone calls you back to her without delay! Haha!"

 

[Llywelyn ap Gruffydd]

"As a follower of Arawn, If nobody objects, I would like to retain the use of this dagger. I am sure it would please Arawn that it would be put back into use by one of his acolytes."

 

[Grimgravy]

"I have no objections. If you can put it to use, it's best you have it."

 

[Siveon]

At this point, Marcán does not respond.

 

[ERYFKRAD]

"I wonder..." Borric paces back and forth, the lack of information lending him unease. "This business of calling an Elder Drune to mark your Chief as unfit sounds right, if we can but hope that somehow this Chief would not turn your people against the Elder Drune's words."
He stares into the distance, trying to sort his thoughts.
"If I had an idea of how safe this travel to the Drune would be, I would think we could move in two groups, one to fetch the Drune and another to have sight upon Your Chief."

"Perhaps the Ranger and I could keep watch on the village from a distance? Bah, would that we had some way of marking this Wolf's death that we may face him outright! I yearn to face him in single combat."

 

[Wayward Son]

"That is a good idea, Borric. Hold your steel and I will away in the morning with all that wish to follow to Maelgwyn. Unless one wishes to search the cave for any proof the Wolf may have left behind?"

 

[L'ennui]

"It occurs to me that by delaying our return, we will also be giving the villagers time to realize that the beast is not coming anymore... Perhaps doubt and dissent will already be set against Talorc when we do confront him."

 

[Grimgravy]

"A lot could happen in the two weeks it would take you get go and return..."

 

[nikolokolus]

The night deepens as you sit around the small fire discussing your plans outside the cave mouth in your makeshift camp.

There won't be a dry place to lie down and sleep and the strange yowls and screeches echoing in the dense mist will make for a fitful sleep at best (it will take a saving throw to get a full night's rest).
