So, uh... Where is the water chip? I know I must nuke the Cathedral to win the game, but where will I get the chip?
You find it in the Necropolis.
But I visited it, and there was nothing. Ghoul manager didn't want to talk with me, and I couldn't visit the upper part of the town.
Also, I'm so sorry that in my 30+ I'm playing Fallout in the first time. It is an RPG sin.
You have to get past the mutants guarding the water pump.
Open a locked door (where there's a ghoul hostage), free the ghoul, then go down the stairs to the sewers.
There's a Vault there occupied by some ghouls (which shouldn't give you much trouble). You can find the water chip there.

How about no? You have an endless pool of information instantly available, from a pocked sized device that would make you a wizard 1k years ago just from using a goddamn flashlight on it, yet you still can't be fucking bothered to:

a) learn from trial and error
b) stop clinging to mommy's skirt
c) stop making excuses as to why you're too lazy/too much of a pussy to do things yourself

No! Imma say that shit. Get real.

I have a severe settingitis where I can only enjoy fantasy RPGs. I need my swords. I need my magic. I need my elf pussy (dark elf preferably). There is a very limited set of non-fantasy RPGs that I can say I enjoyed, and Fallouts 1 & 2 are among them (and VtM:B). This probably means Fallouts 1 & 2 are objectively kind of good, because normally I wouldn't stand a non-fantasy RPG).

Fallout NV deserves a special recommendation for having the most fun melee combat among all FPP RPGs. The sheer amount and variety of available melee weapons is astonishing, and one-shotting Brotherhood of Soy faggots with a powerfist & a STR build is very enjoyable.

"Uh guys where's the water chip? I was at the Necropolis but I'm a lazy retard, can someone, like, just tell me what to do? What do you mean it takes less time to type it into google search than using a fucking forum, I just can't tell the difference. Actually I can, it's easier having someone else do it for me, but shhhhh. There ain't no way I'd put effort ingame to find the solution either, fuck that, I'll wait for a Good Samaritard."

Well, congratulations! You got the answer, and it only took a few hours and a someone else. How nice.

Actually, if THAT was what they asked it would've been fine. Instead, OP's asking for a Diviner to spiritually align with his fantasy and gaming preferences so he can figure out if he'd like Fallouts, and I'M BLUE DABBA DEE DABBA - DIE is asking for someone to hold his hand.

I just don't see the difference between googling and asking the person. It is the same thing.
Well, no, because then I have to type shit out, and guess what, I'm just as lazy as you are motherfucker.
IIRC you'd get killed in certain parts of Montenegro if you asked someone something instead of googling it.

For what it's worth, I think it's entirely fair to ask people to give you a few hints instead of ending up on a page that spoils the outcome of the whole quest.

Eh, I was drunk, saw the Fallout questions thread and asked Fallout question. I thank NecroLord for answers, but still don't know where is that guarding Supermutant, there wasn't any. Will come to Necropolis after Cathedral and find out.

Asking people for help is 10000x better than consulting a walkthrough. It's what we used to do back in the day. I wish we had more of it on this site, especially with new games; one of the best things in the BG3 thread was people sharing tips and secrets and unusual solutions to quests before the walkthrough and wiki sites caught up.

In that spirit: SixDead, if you wanna see something cool, go to the Hub and try to find the Thieves' Guild.

Hey,

I grew up on Baldur's Gate (the original), and Diablo. I always liked the gameplay style, humor etc of BG I and II; I for whatever reason never got around to playing Fallout. I recognize BG was developed by Bioware, but it was published and had a lot of help from the people who constituted Black Isle, who developed Fallout.

My questions are:

1) As someone who enjoys BG, will I enjoy Fallout 1 & 2 in terms of gameplay?

2) What can I expect going into them?

3) Are the Fallout games that were made by Bethesda worth playing?

4) Is the show worth watching for people who liked FO 1&2?
1. That question doesn't have an answer. BG is dull, Fallout isn't. Its between fine wine and buttermilk

2. A good game?

3. No

4. No

Theres no reason to not just explore instead.

I find so dull that someone would play fallout and instantly ask for the WC's location

Whats the point? Thats the whole reason you even started your adventure lol

Play the game, make mistakes, make your own choices

Well yeah, but if you happen to miss the chip on your first visit to Necropolis (granted, that's pretty hard to do) then it'd basically ruin the game, since you'd take off in another direction and miss the way to proceed.

Obviously people should try to beat the game without help since it's pretty straightforward but if someone does manage to overlook the chip then better for them to be put back on track than just walk around aimlessly until their motivation to keep playing evaporates.

The game doesn't even check for the WC so even if he managed to never find it, the game would still be beatable.

And missing the waterchip would require missing the water merchants in the hub, i don't think ive ever seen anyone doing that

Fallout 1&2 are obviously very different from Fallout 3&NV. But, that said, there is still more difference between BG 1&2 and Fallout 1&2, than between Fallout 1&2 and Fallout 3/NV. And I am not speaking about the setting, but about the systems and mechanics.

All the time spent making this thread could have been spent playing the game and seeing if you like it rather than having other people give you your opinions.

Hi

I grew up on vanilla ice cream, and lemon gelato. I always liked the taste, coldness, and creaminess of vanilla ice cream; I for whatever reason never got around to trying chocolate. I recognize frozen desserts have a long history that pre-dates modern refrigeration, but the basic concepts and recipes won't have changed much.

My questions are:

1) As someone who enjoys vanilla ice cream, will I enjoy chocolate and banana in terms of taste?

2) What can I expect going into them?

3) Are the imitation ice cream "manufactured food products" made by Bethesda worth eating?

4) Should I watch the Mr Whippy franchise training videos?
