Rance is lvl 42 and I already have a large group of characters (52) together, but only 3 healers: Sel, Crook and the useless hag. Did I miss a quest trigger or is this normal?
No spoilers please.
There is one other optional healer at this point (but not from a quest), but for the most part Crook handles the majority of your healing, although you should also develop Sel as well in case something happens to Crook. There are also some items that can give a character some healing actions, such as Prima's Ibuprofin.

Sel and crook have too few charges (ressurection is great though). Prima is main healer, can't wait until I get her leveled enough so I can get her a better level cap and monster training book.

You need healing mostly against bosses. In regular battles until late in game it's just "BIRD SHIKIGAMI GO!"

What happens if you advance to World 2? Do you lose all progress? Or do you keep your levels and gear?

I mostly just used Sachiko and Emi to tank, and switch in Crook or Merim when they or the team get too damaged. Or pull in a second team.

If you just use team Uesugi, no one else gets leveled up:/

Through the mid-game the healer class isn't strictly necessary (outside of boss fights, as Reinhardt mentioned). Prima is pretty weak as a healer, but ends up putting in a lot of work just due to her massive amount of weak heals; Merim allows you to face a few more fights too. Later, as you face prolonged dungeons and get more switches due to charisma, that's when you'll get more use out of the healer class. Frostbyne may be a frustrating hag (her low HP puts her at serious risk to get one-shotted by AOEs or ranged attacks that sneak through) but she's an extra set of heals. No healer can compete with Prima's 20 heals (though their heals are much stronger and they can revive) but if you're looking to preserve their uses, give some consideration to "Full Party Protection" which passively heals your whole team at no cost on the healer's turn or "Post Battle Recovery," which gives a small heal after each battle. They're both expensive though, so it may need to wait until later levels.

And team Uesugi just heals themselves.

(I usually bring them in when I'm low on switches, living team members, and the dungeon is starting to piss me off. They're my "not fucking around anymore" team)

Copandon and Lia too. Still need one more talent board for Atago. I'm too cheap to buy it.

I'm mostly using team Kenshin at the start of the dungeon when i'm exploring, fighting red mines and opening chests or when i need to bring specific characters.
And in escort missions. I fed speed items to Kumako so she just nukes every encounter.

Besides Uesugi, Shizuka was a beast in my playthrough when she gets her unique weapon. It seems to proc over 50% of time to give free spell and her single target dps is better compared to Uesugi.

Regarding healers Crook is practically better compared to every other healer in every way? I think her lock picking / alarm disarming were bugged to only 1 charge even when those talents were maxed?

Also having 2 healers is a good idea for last boss at least for me it was necessary.

Crook's Talent in Chest Opening/Trap Evasion is at its max level, but neither has any star value. Basically, it can only ever be used once per dungeon. Those are typically Ranger exclusive skills; there's a few characters in the game who have skills outside of their class, though usually they're weaker or (in Crook's case) have more limited uses.

So I finished Magnum's expansion and at this point the only quests I have left involve grinding levels or grinding cash (I'll try to avoid spoilers); events with high level requirements, the mountain with high level requirements, or some young lady purchases with high gold requirements. The infinty Malgrid dungeon too. Oh, and the absurd poster menace. Should I grind up to finish these or should I just start
World 2?

If you don't feel like grinding them now, you surely won't feel like grinding them on the 2nd or the 3rd time around.

But not like you are missing much. But uh, it is like whatever brings you joy. Your game, your time.

It was rather silly to see Pastel gear up ready to fuck my shit up only to arrive at the crypt and see her bawling that Crook stole her panties

Counter must be bugged. Even at 3 stars (=80%) it activates in like 20% or less of all attacks.
A shame. A tank with counter looked like a good idea.

Ok you degenerates, fill me in on your final verdict. I bought Sengoku from manga gamer last year and that was great. That's the only Rance I've played so far. Is it worth the price to buy this latest Rance from manga gamer?

Did you buy Rance VI yet?

Sengoku is the best game in the whole series, so nothing really compares. VI is a better game than Quest.

But yeah, you buy RQM because you want to see more Rance. It is a matter of principle. If you've already played through everything else, why not?

Yes. At least play VI before Quest.
Quest is all about fan service. All the characters from earlier Rance games appear and it's only half the fun if you don't know them from the other games. Very different from Sengoku that was much more a stand-alone game, with mostly all new characters.

Not sure I'd call it fan service, but yeah, it is all about the cast, of which... 90%? is returning from previous entries. Rance VI is also somewhat unquestionably a better game than RQM.

Where is Crane's secret "visit the same place 5 times with Magic" referring to?
Any quest (with level transitions) that you've cleared 5 times or more. I recommend the labyrinth levels.
