Early access has been out for a while and the recent update expanded it to 3 biomes so there's quite a bit of content.

The game is miles above the 1st one. They ditched the pixel art for just cartoony shit (which is what the 1st one was, except with an ugly filter) and each class is now fairly unique (they have their own weapons which are very different from each other).

The chef in particular is very unique and entertaining to play (poor melee damage but sets enemies on fire on hit and can slap projectiles away with frying pan, turning them into fireballs in the process). Also nice to see another game with valkyries as playable class too.

The balance could use some work but for the most part every class has its entertaining elements.

This got out of early access today in case anyone cares. I enjoyed the first game and plan to get around to this one eventually.

Yes. I haven't played this game in months and it is very different than what I remembered it. If anyone is interested in Metroidvanias this game takes the cake.

Holy grinding Batman!

The first game, i don't recall grinding being bad, but before you hit level 50 and such, the amount of gold required for each upgrade gets more and more ridiculous, and then there is the blacksmith and the runes, or that guy that locks the world so it doesn't change, and there are also Souls.

The inflation is already getting so ridiculous i can feel the game slowly becoming like a predatory F2P mobile game...except it's a 20 bucks indie game with no way to pay for resources, i can see this game getting so many complaints that a future update will decrease upgrade prices or give you more money...or the developer will tell people to just shut up and git gud.

Since it's a single player game, I'm considering using cheats.
I'm not planning to throw a run away because my gold is not enough even for one upgrade.

cant you just use 'house rules' to give you more gold?
Just checked those, they all revolve around giving you more abilities, taking away bad traits or having enemies have less health and give less damage, there doesn't seem to be anything revolving around gold and prices.

I’ve been playing it. It’s fun and $20 is a good price point for it. Classes feel distinct, traits materially change the way you approach situations, and combat is tough but fair. I agree that the grind is a bit too much and should be tuned down a bit, but some people are either overstating it or are… really, really bad at the game. I’ve reached the third biome and at least so far I usually have enough money to buy around 2 upgrades/items/runes after a run. Not being able to afford a single upgrade after a death suggests to me that the player is failing to learn the lessons the game is trying to teach them.

Bought it for Switch and messed around with it. Didn't take me getting out of the tutorial area until I decided I hated all the new mechanics. The spin-kick thing and blue lanterns to gain extra height is retarded and pointless. How does that improve on the original? The other thing is even more retarden and pointless. 1 sec making a video..

The game is miles above the 1st one.
Yeah miles above in retardation.
