Sounds good.
The lack of personality can be both good and bad, The mercs in JA2 were cool, but they also increased the urge to reload if one of them was killed, since you didn't want to miss out on future funny comments.

Saw it in the store. Looked it up on amazon and reviews were really bad. Didn't play it myself though.

Reviews on Amazon are usually terrible.

Well, if you actually read the reviews you can sort most of the "lol wut. this is tb. havent dey lurned to do rt in rushia yet???!??!?! the graffix is wors then CoD4!!!!!" out. If the review sounds like it is from a JA2 fan and goes into detail about why they gave the score and lists pros and cons then I do put some trust into it. And most cons sounded quite reasonable. It boiled down to "I would have given the game 3-4 stars if it weren't for the bugs, the bad translation and the failure to implements some of the combat mechanichst that were present and good in JA2". So maybe they are still full of shit but it doesn't sound like it...

Enlighten me also. I think he changed it after somebody made fun of Anne Rice.

Okay guys i downloaded the demo, give me one moment to figure out if it`s worth yer money or time.

I just played a short game of Jagged Alliance in 3d er... Hired Guns. The first "problem" is the camera, you can manually adjust it how you wish, it can get a little annoying also zooming out is limited. You have your JA2-like laptop where you order mercs or guns from a website. You can have a different squads with 5(?) people in one squad. I travelled to a location per overland map, press "3" to fastforward the time. There i met some mareuders or some other bad dudes who kept some civilians as prisoners or slaves. I offered them my help(see dialogue box) and the turnbased combat kicked in. Pretty stupid design desicion to insert as many civilians as enemys, so that you are forced to watch every step they make while they leave the worldmap. Enemys have combat comments (Die, slut!) and headshots are very effective. The end of the story is that my squad died, while some of the civilians were smart enough to escape. Overall it feels like a cheap JA2- clone.

From the character quiz:

The turnbased combat is actually pretty decent. You have can aim at different body parts, choose single or burst fire or simply aim more precise (costs more AP). Grenades are a pretty deadly weapon and the enemys know it, too. Lost 2 squad members including that funny generic chinese guy.

it's been out in german for a long time and it appears to have become playable after the first couple of major patches. Don't take old demos as reference, they're horrible.

An attempt at a next-gen ja2, but from what i hear, not as addictive
