I just saw an ad for it while visiting IGN. Has anyone tried this game? It is a turn based war game set in America's future, but beyond that I don't know too much about it. Its also being released for the Xbox, so thats a bad sign.

I know Lunchie bought it recently.
He likes it.

I reckon it sounds The Biz.
I was initially not interested as I thought it was "just another RTS", but the fact that it is TB has made me more interested.

it was fun for a while, but it's shallow and gets old real fast.

Will there be a demo? I've been waiting for this game for a while, but many people haven't liked it.

And what the hell is "beer and pretzels" wargaming? I see this term all the time but I have noi idea what it means. All these unoriginal fucktards doing the reviews use it.

Well in RPGs or War Games played with other people in real life it means the kind of game you can play in an evening with some friends while drinking beer and eating pretzels. So now 410 hour Avalon Hill games, or 27 stage attack resolution procedures. A good test is whether or not you can play the game with a few beers in you, and whether or not you can finish the game in the time it takes to drink a six pack.

Shattered Union is a beer and pretzel wargame. You're not going to spend hours studying each unit, and one little mistake isn't going to send you down a 16 hour spiral to your inevitable doom.

Also the strategy layer is pure shit. It's about 100 times more shallow than the strategic layer in Shogun.

It's always scary when there is no demo.
