What the fuck was this "trailer" even about? It's just random Star Shit imagery and music. How does anybody watch this and think to themselves "oOOoOo tHat LoOks InTeResTInG!"

You got Star Wars out of it? I just saw a sun and a bunch of dickheads drumming. As far as I can tell, it's going to be some sort of rhythm music game. Maybe it'll come with a drum controller like in Rock Band.

Well time to bring out these bad boys again

All those cool blaster shootouts and lightsaber fights... reduced to QTEs.
I wonder how many of those locations and events would even be in game in any meaningful way rather as a part of its backstory or something that happens alongside the events of the game. So and so happened before you arrived on this planet, while this huge battle that is relevant to your story is going on elsewhere... That sort of thing.

After an incredible week long drum session with 50 of his closest friends, Harry DuBenstar awakens, not knowing who or where he is. But with the eclipse coming in three days, he had better find out quick! Enjoy thrilling dialog and considering the mysteries of the Sith for hours at a time. This game features no combat, with conflicts resolved between rhythm drum challenges and dynamic timed dialogue QTEs. Experience the future of Star Wars gaming and RPGs delivered by Quantic Dreams!

First details for Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse reportedly leaked
DECEMBER 17, 2021 JOHN PAPADOPOULOS 2 COMMENTS

It appears that the first details for Quantic Dream’s have been leaked online. According to the leak, Star Wars Eclipse will be an open-world action-adventure game, and will be using Quantic Dream’s in-house engine.

This information comes from AccNGT who had leaked a screenshot from Star Wars Eclipse’s announcement trailer prior to its official reveal. Not only that, but AccNGT had also leaked the game’s full title. Thus, this source appears to be credible. Still, and as with all rumors/leaks, we suggest taking everything you’re about to read with a grain of salt.

According to AccNGT, Star Wars Eclipse will feature interactive story-telling. Moreover, it will feature more playable characters than any other Quantic Dreams game.

Here are all the details that AccNGT leaked.

  • It is an action-adventure game
  • It will feature interactive story-telling
  • Inspired by The Last of Us
  • It will be open world
  • Additionally, it will feature some multiplayer (competitive)
  • It is being described as an ambitious and original project
  • The action gameplay is described as being traditional
  • The story will be non-linear
  • It will feature more playable characters than any other Quantic Dreams game
  • The development started more than a year and a half ago
  • They are using their in-house engine for it
  • Developed by Quantic Dream Montreal and Paris

Sources – NetEase to Acquire 100% of Quantic Dream
Quantic Dream has been looking to be fully acquired since its three-game Sony deal expired.

NetEase, the Chinese internet technology company will reportedly acquire 100% of Quantic Dream, with an announcement likely to come this summer, sources suggest.

The company purchased a minority stake of Quantic Dream in 2019 to “support [Quantic Dream] ‘s vision of becoming a global, multi-franchise entertainment company, and to develop advanced technologies and games for the future,” it was reported in a press release. But now, it seems like NetEase will be acquiring 100% of the company. The deal has apparently been in talks for months, but it’s unclear whether or not the deal has been 100% finalized.

It’s unclear as to why acquisition talks began, but sources have suggested that Quantic Dream has been looking to be fully acquired since its three-game Sony deal expired following the release of Detroit: Become Human in 2018. Quantic Dream had approached several different companies over the years, pitching “Project Karma” – a space exploration game as its next flagship title. In fact, Project Karma would eventually become Star Wars Eclipse, which was announced in December 2021.

Quantic Dream has had its fair share of controversy these past several years following allegations of workplace issues, including sexual harassment, crunch, and toxic work culture. These issues have reportedly created a hiring problem for the studio, with my investigation at Xfire showing that the studio has had several job openings for well over two years that are still active.

Although the studio has seen controversy, the announcement of Star Wars Eclipse was seemingly a turning point in giving the studio loaded ammunition to continue its desire to be acquired.
NetEase is no stranger to acquiring studios, with the company acquiring Grasshopper Manufacture late last year. Grasshopper, the studio behind franchises like Killer7, No More Heroes, and Lollipop Chainsaw decided to “get together in the long term with through deeper cooperation to create more good content for gamers.”

Those familiar with the deal have said that the current NetEase and Quantic Dream deal seems to be similar to that of Grasshopper, with NetEase providing the resource support the studio needs to “bring Star Wars Eclipse to life.”

NetEase did not provide a comment for this report but did acknowledge the opportunity given.

NETEASE GAMES & QUANTIC DREAM: BUILDING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER

netease-2.jpg

Quantic Dream was founded on May 2, 1997. For 25 years, we operated as an independent developer, and in recent years also as a publisher.
Over this quarter century, we brought together extremely talented individuals who have worked together with passion and ambition – a great many since 10, 15, 20 or more years! – to create unique interactive experiences. We crafted strong and lasting creative and commercial partnerships, each of which helped us grow and become who we are today. We grew our community from family circles to millions of fans worldwide, with whom we now share, at each new release, our hopes and our excitement.
Quantic Dream has always been particularly attached to its creative freedom and independence. This freedom has allowed us to create different games, to develop our proprietary technology, to equip ourselves with an infrastructure dedicated to our needs, and above all to create the games we dreamed of for millions of players.

In order to continue our development and presence in the world, but also to fund other studios and become an international publisher, larger investments are needed for us to keep building our technology and infrastructure, to deliver ever more impressive next-generation games, to expand our team and to develop several projects simultaneously.
We met NetEase about 4 years ago and offered them to join us as a minority shareholder in January 2019. During this time, we have learned a lot about each other. We started working together on small and large projects, we enjoyed working together and discussed a lot about our sector and our vision for the future. We discovered that we share the same desire to create bold, highly qualitative work that makes an impression.

To continue to evolve and dream big, as we embark on “our next 25 years”, we are delighted to announce that we will be joining NeEase Games, which is becoming a 100% shareholder of Quantic Dream. We will retain our independence in terms of our editorial line, the artistic direction of our projects and the management of the studio. Our teams, who are fully involved in this operation and who benefit directly financially, are of course fully preserved and will continue to grow and strengthen.
NetEase Games is committed to supporting the innovation and development of video games worldwide, and it is within this framework that Quantic Dream will continue to grow. We will still operate independently, maintain the ability to create and self-publish our video games on all platforms, and continue to support and publish titles developed by third parties.

Thanks to everyone who has been with us for the past 25 years, whether they discovered us with Omikron: The Nomad Soul or more recently with Detroit: Become Human.
While certain things are changing, our spirit, our team and our dreams are not!
As we have been, are and will remain QUANTIC DREAM.
