Gave it a spin. Not bad – it really gives the right feeling of wrestling with inner politics and vassals more than with any external threat (though those are a factor to consider too). Rather sparse on content, though – it's a solid base, but needs to either deepen the current mechanics, or add some more, as you're liable to get bored about halfway through (since you're doing the same things over and over again without much thought). Something to make the galaxy feel more alive would also be welcome – right now, the other races are practically just indistinguishable map colors that you gradually paint over, and act pretty much the same regardless of who they are or how hard you're crushing them, etc. Maybe at least some sort of victory screen once you wipe them off the map? Or a popup event when you conquer their capital?

All in all a fun game though. Just wish there was more of it, basically. Here's hoping there'll be some meaty DLCs down the line.
