The realms of arkania series spells from the summoning speciality. According to the manual they would not work because the materials to cast them were not available in Northern Allansia.

THEN WHY HAVE THE BLOODY SPELLS IN THE MENU??????

The real funny part is that I never had the manual for Star Trail, so I spent the entire game trying to cast those spells (one was supposed to summon chimeras) and always wondered why I couldn't get them to work.

It was so stupid that a bunny could destroy everything. I always felt sorta silly running around with my bunny friends summoned.

For character compatibility with pen and paper game. Check Megatraveller or Twilight 2000, they had whole groups of skills not ever used in the game (and marked as such in the manual) so you could use a character on tabletop.

I always found tempus fugit(?) fom arcanum to be retarded. Yay, I'm a mage and I slow down the entire goddamn world so my party gains double movement. Shit why not just change that slow down effect to some fire damage and kill everyone?

I found it to be incredibly cheesy. So I'm a mage so powerful I can warp reality to make the world slower and my party faster. Why the fuck didn't I receive my certificate of god-hood right there?

reminds me of the guy in FF Tactics that apparently messes with earth's orbit to stun like 5 or 6 enemies (at least, I read that description once). Here.

For Arcanum, I prefer to think only the immediate surrounding area is slowed, and ignore the inane part.

Amusingly enough, the spell does not summon a chimarae anyway. It instead creates one and requires a lengthy ritual as well as source material (animals). So the only way to implement it correctly would have been to have it create a new permanent companion. And if they were strict you would have been executed if someone sees you running around with a chimarae servant. Heh.
