Anyone tried it? It's on sale. I've never heard of it before.

Looks interesting. Most important questions:

-Is it a handcrafted world, rather than procedurally generated?
-Static enemy levels, or level-scaling?

If it's the former in both, then I'd probably check it out.

Could be, reviews are good. Seems like it's not a Diablo clone. But then again, Steam reviews are what they are worth. I'd rather have more opinions from our local autists who hate the world before potentially wasting money on that too.

I played it for a few hours. It's a good game, but just didn't click - it plays like a Diablo but tries to be more 'rpg-ish' with stealing systems and fractions. The setting is cool. I just got burned down with Diablo's clones.

Looks like an alpha

UI needs work

and yeah the market for these is hypersaturated, yet none tries to be original. Not even a little

People see the screenshot and are instantly turned off, cuz its been seen 100 times before

This actually looks way more interesting than the other trite art styles you see these days. I'm intrigued.

EDIT: Lo and behold, it was already in my wishlist. :o

Found a nice video review for this.

It sold me. The game is trying enough new and interesting things to make it worth checking out. Cool setting too.

Saw title - got excited

Then saw ARPG...fuck

Might give it a go only because of the setting, it seems to actually explore it. Hope it won't be a waste of time.

He finished it? Last time I heard it was released but still under the development because the dev didn't know what he wanted with it.

Expansion coming out ~Q1 2025. Still don't know if I want to buy this, maybe on a huge sale but definitely not full price.

These portraits completely take me out of the atmosphere. Not a fan of the direction they took with it. If you're going to make these people playable, I need to feel impact from it:

Been playing this game for a few hours and I got to say, I'm pleasantly surprised.

The main story seems to be relatively short so you can breeze through it if you want or just go explore a pretty reactive world (and literally go anywhere, even find the final main story fights). There are a bunch of mechanics that I'm still playing around with: alchemy/cooking, crafting, etc. which can be improved with stats, you're a soul so you can exit body and have a range to scout out a location depending on stats, etc. I'm sure there's a lot I haven't tried yet.

You have main stats (Str, Dex, Int, etc.) which are learn by doing, two different "feats", one of which you seem to get from story moments, and others from what you're doing in gameplay (or you start with depending on the character you choose, good AND bad) and finally classes where you distribute points when levelling up. I started with building a Marksman/Ranger character, but made the mistake thinking I could get to the other town before sunset and ended up getting fucked up by a werewolf. This ties into the permadeath mechanic. You don't build PC from scratch, you pick one with their own stats and backstory (and personal quest) then build around that. When you die, you possess another person, again choosing and building around that. I started with the Marksman/Hunter, didn't like my next choices so took a strong retard raised by a wolf in the forest and suicide mission a very strong enemy for LARPing purposes and then moved to an isolated, intelligent alchemist and boy do I love this build. Still would've preferred building from scratch, seems like it could be a lot of fun and has a lot of customization options. Oh, you also cant save scum. I was working for someone serving the One God, got an item and an old god showed up told me to give it to his minion, I simply asked "What if I don't" and he got pissed and sent lightning down on me which did 200 damage and called me a peon who he can strike down at any moment. If I had taken a bunch of damage in the fight leading to that convo, I could've died right there and my amazing build completely gone. Pretty brutal.

Haven't seen enough of main story so far but it has portrayed slavic mythology pretty faithfully and is a refreshing change from typical fantasy and has some fun side quests around it too. It's exploring the "One God" vs. the old gods aka transition into Christianity.

World reactivity is nice as well, there is a day/night cycle and a seasons cycle, with world events. Either random ("Mokosh brought a nice summer and wheat fields in the east are booming", "A strange underworld merchant was seen in x town, locals are weary and will probably drive him out", etc.), or due to your actions. For example, I did what I thought was a typical kill mob who is preventing me from fishing quest, but it was a "smart" goblin fucking with magic it didn't understand and causing the lake and grass around to have a reddish hue. I killed the leader, left, and a few days later I get a world event that the reddish hue is gone, all remaining creatures have scattered, and an inn in the area is open once again. It's a gambling house where I blew all my coins, score.

There's some jank, but this is a neat little game and it's a shame it came out so late in 2023. I checked the GOTY voting here and it got 4 votes, 3* of which were the troll 1/5 to every game votes. Will see how this holds up after ~20 hours or so.

Bonus Points: You can pet any animal in this game, feed animals, and they can follow you if certain criteria of your character are met. And when I say every animal, I mean it, even little crabs on the beach.

Veles and Perun are both giving "chaos." WTF!? For what I read about Slavic mythology, Veles stole Perun's cattle and wife and constantly fought against Perun.

Anyway, the very first review says that dialogs in this game matter. I want to play this as a Veles zealot and see how the world will react. I will buy this game. Just a question before I buy. Any Linux user can comment in proton compatibility? Protondb has no reviews. I will not use M$ spyware/bloatware just for a single game.

Just finished, took ~19 hours doing every side quest I came upon (although I know I'm missing a lot more) and it definitely holds up. I'd say it even gets better.

World is much more reactive than I expected, that definitely kept up throughout the whole game (and I know I'm missing stuff). You can find quests by talking to people, but you can stumble upon journal entries (or world events) that give you information for you to seek it out yourself, there are toggleable quest markers (but you don't need to use those anyways, it's not designed around them). Story is pretty good & reactive too, nothing ground breaking but I was satisfied with how everything turned out and how it not only acknowledged my choices in end game, but how I was playing as well. No indicators some of this is being tracked, just find out in the moment. And boy, when you go for a philosophy, they make sure you stick to it. I was dead set on my path for a long time and they really made me stick to my guns, so much so I was contemplating switching sides. For example:

You want to be good with God, follow a clean path away from old gods? Prove you're enlightened and give up everything on your body, EVERYTHING, for just a loaf of bread. I had ~60k coins full bags, great gear, etc. I ended up giving it to charity, leaving me naked in the middle of town with a measly loaf of bread, then a guard yelled at me to put some clothes on or I'll be punished for indecency.

Got to test out a lot of character builds and it's definitely varied where I can see different builds being viable (and getting OP). Mage, Melee, Ranger, Rogue, etc. I spent majority of the time as an alchemist with a spellbook that ties to alchemy stat and I was brewing so many potions that in my endings final fight I was literally invincible. Hell, I didn't even use active abilities for almost the entire game because of how I built my guy out. For example:

K2HUhFE.png

I built myself around talents (they're basically feats), I got pretty high level and I think I could barely completely fill out one class with everything maxed. Got a lot of my feats using a certain mechanic that seems like I could really go for because of my build and story choices.

Unfortunately, I feel like this is marred by the permadeath mechanic. It is well done, they have some fun with it and switch it up, but definitely do not want to die, at least in midgame. I built up my character perfectly, then got stuck on something because of the jank in movement and lost him, with the next choices not something I felt like continuing the rest of the game with. Not sure how it affects endings though, didn't figure that out. I'd love to start off building a character with this system either way but I can't call it an actual negative because of how they designed the game around it, just a personal preference. At least you can respec with rare potions, but my alchemist was able to craft so much I think I ended with like 14 of them lol

There's so many mechanics I haven't explored fully and this game definitely is a lot more than meets the eye.

Mokosh has a nice rack
A place to hang my hands I guess... I mean head... I mean hat damnit. Yeahhh... my hat.

Hmmm.... 7 divine virtues? That's a new one to me. Can the opposite be true for Virtues or anything else in that category (yeah yeah ultima had virtues too).

Yes.

Talents can be bad (gained through gameplay). Some of them can be healed by clerics, Broken Arm is one, which lowered my Dex and made it grow 30% slower. There are some that cannot be healed by them and you need to use favour's from the gods which is another mechanic where you get favour's for doing things certain gods like.

Virtues can be 1 of 2 things, those only come from story moments depending on your choices.
