Latest Temple+ is 1.0.64, so I'd at least grab that. It doesn't add content, but it lets you enable prestige classes and such through the configurator.
What is a "prestige class"?
If you want to play a near purist run, use co8 3.0.4 instead of the latest, as it contains many of the fixes and far fewer content changes.
From what i read on their site the content changes there are minor. I can live with that.
Other than that, I'm curious where you got that bundle. Seems a bit old?
Just like with the OP it's some pesky russkie solyanka bundle.

it is a good thing that temple of elemental evil got mod support so you can play prestige classes in original unmodded game you could play only base classes.

From what i read these prestige classes are some kind of "ranks" high level chars get, when they have enough stats and perks leveled up. Is that really useful in a campaign, where your level cup is 10 (and even with removed cap you wont get much further unless additional content)?

I guess mainly if you play solo / small party size.

By the way, dear octavius and ... Cael ...

like the hill giant in the battlefield up north 800 hp > 200 hp or so in Co8

He is out of his mind. Hill Giants are 12HD monsters. 200 is already double what they normally have.

The one at Emerys Meadow is a normal hill giant with a grizzly pet. EL8-9 encounter. However, it has a glaring weakness, with a Will save of only +4. That means a bog standard level 1 Tasha's from a level 1 bard with 18 Cha will nail it 50% of the time.

I have killed him more times than I care to count. At level 3 or less (always before i go to the moathouse but sometimes after I grind a few random encounters). He takes a Tasha's then a pounding from 5 guys. There is no way he has 600+hp as that would allow him to weather my party's low level attacks, wait out Tasha's and murder the lot of them. I call shenannigans.

But he has without Co8, i took the screen myself out of a new game (vanilla + Temple+)

I also killed him with Co8 with a low level party, it was "a piece of cake" or close enough compared to the vanilla experience where he hits as hard as his HP suggest.

Something's fucked up, but I don't know who or which part. 600+ hp is basically great wyrm gold dragon territory. Maybe even Big-T's territory. There is no way a simple hill giant should have that kind of hp.

That's actually what i like about this game, besides the smart TB implementation, every second encounter is a "boss" fight.
It's somewhat similar to Xulima titans and giants although wounds / bleed / poison ruins the experience in Xulima as you constantly have to heal them (and the combat skills are lame)

I might be wrong but i think equivalent level only works with PC, monsters and NPC get their full HD on each level-up without any equivalent level reduction.

No. Monsters get average hp for their HD. Just take a look at the SRD. Most of the high ranking monsters have a massive bonus to hp from their Con stat, though.

D&D rules are only relevant if that's how they were implemented in ToEE, those numbers are consistent with KotC but for ToEE there's obviously a catch.

Looks like that only happens when you set max HP for NPC HD. It's also a bug because I multiplied the modifier by the number of dice for that case, oops! I guess in your case it was a desirable outcome, heh...

Please don't fix it ;-)
Heh, sorry, it's a bug so it's gotta go... I'd add it as another NPC HD mode, but it'd be very inconsistent between co8 and non co8.
It should be relatively easy to make a mod that ups certain NPCs however. I can guide you if you want...

No need, i have your Temple+ 1.064 archived ;-)

I always wanted to make a full conversion or a game with an existing TB engine but i don't think ToEE engine is the one, Realms Beyond or KotC engines, on the other hand but KotC is probably not moldable otherwise, mods would be flying already.

Whatever you do don't play Keep on the Borderlands. Holy shit.

Really ?
I didn't see any "codex review" so far, do you find it this bad ?

I mean, the combat system is solid, can't be worse than Hommlet in the vanilla game, right ?
