I seem to recall that in Conan often wizards were the heads of huge armies and/or nations. For instance, the guy from _Tower of the Elephant_ was not formally the king of the nation he lived in, but he pretty much could make the king do whatever he wanted.

That's why I like the Tippyverse. Life is changed greatly even at the lowest levels (And changed even more by chain gating Solars).
