Just got to a part of SC where they talk about septium veins. Big, magical things that grow in the earth, and people have built cities around them.

Sounds like adra from Pillars of Eternity.... but Trails in the Sky did it first.

Well they have to, since I almost cleared out their stock (on their store page) a couple of weeks ago.

XSEED seem like they actually care about the games they localize. I hope they'll do financially well.

So do I, and it's important to appreciate the effort and initiative they are making, by introducing these otherwise completely unavailable games to Western audience. I don't speak Japanese, and XSEED has introduced me to games that are amazing and fun and different (and sometimes kinda icky) but are an experience that I appreciate so much. The translations and localizations that have seen from XSEED are top level.

Are the Cold Steel games compatible with Vita TV or w/e it's called? (European region, if that matters.)

It's thanks to them that I was introduced to Olivier Lenheim, one of the greatest characters in gaming.

After already buying the digital EU version, I ended up getting the Lionheart edition of Cold Steel from US because it turned out that NIS America hasn't even decided if they bring Cold Steel 2 to Europe, despite releasing the first one. I thought a save transfer compatible version would be nice and I also felt compelled to support XSEED since I bought TitS games dirt cheap from Steam.

Oh NIS, thy name is cruelty.

The legend of heroes games are so incredibly fucking boring. The storyline develops at the slowest pace I seen in a jrpg and is trivial. I played the original game for the psp year or 2 ago and had to stop how boring it was. I think its hilarious how jrpg fans are so starved for rpgs that they give this trivial game raving reviews on steam. Because lets face its jrpg scene has been completely dead after the 360 and ps3 generation. Doesnt help now that jrpg and japanese gaming companies in general are moving to phones to further put nails in the coffins of jrpg fans.

Probably the best translation I've ever seen. Game really feels like it was originally written in English.

What are you talking about? Cold Steel 2 is already translated and they're just doing the VOs now. Should expect to see it this year. If it gets released in the US, it'll get released in Europe.

I'm still playing Second Chapter, and I'm probably a ways out from finishing it, but I ordered a copy of Cold Steel and it came yesterday. Pretty glad I did too, because it looks like Amazon UK are all sold out now.

I know, but XSEED specifically said on their Facebook page that they don't know about the EU release and someone from the discussion posted a link to NIS page where they answered someone's question that they don't yet know if they will bring CS2 to Europe, despite bringing CS1. This was about a month ago, I don't know if it has changed.

Finally started playing Cold Steel since XSEED will be demoing Cold Steel II at E3 next month and if I want to cover it I should probably get this out of the way.

Overall I'm liking it. I can't shake the feeling I'm missing a bunch of references to the Crossbell duology and The 3rd, though. I've been catching references to TitS everywhere, and allusions to events that obviously occur in the Crossbell games too. I can't say I'm a big fan of how they changed the orbment system in Cold Steel, but it's not really a bad replacement - I just preferred the little bit of micromanagement necessary for certain arts in TitS. It's interesting how Multi-Crafts are re-purposed in the Link system here...

Anyway, definitely going to finish this before the end of the month at this rate. I'm not really rushing it, but I always get really engrossed by these games. I remember finishing TitS FC in about 3 or 4 days after getting it. Wasn't skipping sidequests either. I would've finished SC in less than a week but for whatever reason I dropped it for a few months at the very end. Probably because of performance issues running it under WINE. Not sure if I'm going to import Zero no Kiseki EVO now and try my hand at playing it with some help from a dictionary for stuff I can't understand or I should wait until The 3rd comes out over here first and then play the Crossbell games. I should probably see if I can find a resource of terms and their Japanese counterparts either way...

I also dropped SC because I didn't have the time to play it, but I've picked it up now since I had time today and was in the mood. And I'm glad I did. I'm loving Chapter 8.
