I didn't particularly care for Red Faction 2 but god damn if it didn't have some of the best electro in a videogame ever. Brilliantly totalitarian stuff, fit the game perfectly.

Come on, that's so fucking generic. It's like taking a clue from older dark ambient (stuff like Lustmord), adding a bit of etno music and then polishing and mainstreaming it as fuck. Today's Hollywood stuff is drenched with this kind of stuff and this "approach" to music.

I have to give a bit of credit to that tiny little melody from about 1:50 til 2:12 though and to the electro segment of this track that emerges sometimes.

I'm not a music buff at all and I don't really follow "purely instrumental" or even techno stuff, so this kind of music still comes as a surprise to me. I don't mind either that they "mainstreamed" it because I generally can't stand avantgarde-faggotry. So to me this was an interesting piece that fit in well with the game and evoked a good atmosphere.

Also, the same composer who made the RF2 soundtrack was responsible for Freespace 2's beauty of a soundtrack. Going out on a limb here and saying that FS2's music, particularly the in-battle music, is perhaps the best "epic" scifi music I have ever heard:

1:45 is just... insane. Amazingly creative soundtrack, deserves recognition.
