That's what puzzles me. I'd be bitching too if they were trying to charge money for it, but they're not. They're releasing it as a patch, and they're re-releasing the game so any holdouts still out there could buy the game up to the latest patch. Sure, it's PR to say "This is the latest and greatest version of the game!" when this puts nipples back on sex cards, but what the hell. I'm fine with a company spewing bullshit PR if that's all it is, and not Blizzard-like bullshit PR of "We're removing LAN to fight piracy so our company doesn't collapse! You don't want us to die, do you?".

Then again I didn't understand all the bitching over the enhanced edition either. Another case where they re-released the game and apparently the retards here think it's the only way to get the update. Fuck.

Which of course has nothing to do with the fact that the EE and this "Director's cut" have almost nothing in common.

One was a significant revamp of several highly-criticized features of the game. The other is a hyped-up nude patch.

The release of a new edition is amusing, but I didn't mind the game at all. It fits into the Deus Exish, Action RPG area well enough without being an interactive movie. The main character was entertaining as well. It doesn't replace the need for some real RPG's though.

What surprises me is that they keep doing these re-releases. I would have thought they did quite well with Witcher sales, and now they are in trouble? Did they burn their profits on the console version they were fiddling with?

Codex hivemind fails on this one: they aren't actually charging for it, so it's just a patch - a positive patch at that - and the news that they are including that patch in future copies of the game. Nothing to criticise, really, barely newsworthy.

If anything, at this rate in 2020 they'll be releasing the Witcher in pure turn-based mode with followers, so if they want to keep on patching one game then that's fine with me
