You would be taking a series that's heavily focused on exploration and NPC interaction, and setting itself on a barren continent with no human settlement. Sounds lame.

Learn your history. The Atlantic slave trade was over by the time Leopold got involved in the Congo.

An Antarctic expedition game would be cool, supernatural or not. They could also make an Expedition game where your rag tag group of Crusaders go around the Holy Land.

Always a step ahead of you...
Expeditions: Atlantis

And the story could unravel in two timelines - one in the long past when Atlantis was still around and how they overstretching conquest led to it's demise (mostly perpetrated by the player). And the second timeline closer to the present where you explore the underwater Atlantis and try to bring it again to the surface.
This way you have both a nautical theme with monsters and magical creatures under the see and a more regular kind of ancient greece mythology-inspired experience in the older timeline.

Think would be pretty awesome. Anyway I trust the devs to deliver something cool either way! :)

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
Expeditions: Caribbean would be not bad. Particularly if you had to balance an estate in Europe with whatever your profits in piracy and bounty hunting.

Expeditions: Lovecraft/Haggard could be set almost anywhere and in any time period, what with the emphasis on forgotten species and secret history.

Expeditions: Redcoat/Sharpe might be interesting as well.
