To be fair he must be pretty clever. He knows fuck all about game design yet has weaseled his way to running the studio. He's a role model for talentless hacks everywhere - the folk at Bethesda are clearly following in his footsteps, sucking a lot of cock.

He must be a mesmerizer - the way he says "kewwwl" - it's so irresistible ..

Pete Bullshit Hines. Since they have nothing to show like for example a gameplay video or a quest with the amazing options they have to content themselves with masturbation. Pete knows about his bullshit job guys. If he shows some actual info about this game people will never buy it.

By the way wasn't Todd Howard the guy who was responsible for Morrowind combat being so lame and in Oblivion with the broken level scaling and the amazing dialog mini-games?

Do you think Bethesda is doing these huge, massive games to compensate for something?

Do you think they use the Fallout name to compensate for something?

Beth fanboys vs FO fanboys. Who will win?

FO3 will probably be a success, unless they release it with game stopping bugs, heck even if they release it with game stopping bugs(bugs are industry standards nowadays). It will get 9/10 score reviews. Will you try it out and then buy it if you like it?

Waaah, I don't like him 'cause he doesn't make games for me and my niche!

Many developers don't make games for me and my niche: They simply ignore it, and more power to them.

Some try to make games for me and my niche ( Depths of Peril, Eschalon) accepting that they will never have mass market appeal and 4 millions copies sold, a big thank you to them.

Some brave souls even invest enough money to produce a cutting edge game that still appeals to the hard core audience ( The Witcher, Mask of the Betrayer) a big thank you to them too.

Some talented game designers, like Levine, dump down their games for ADD console retards, but at least they bemoan the fact and have the decency to not ask us to like it.

And then there is Todd Howard, the poster child for appealing to the lowest common denominator. He doesn't grudgingly adhere to the (perceived ?) demands of modern day game design (lots of bloom to enhance immerz1on, 5 word scenario to avoid confusing trigger-happy 14-year-olds with pocket-money to burn), he champions it. Every single word he utters at his interviews is delivered with ecstatic glee over the industry finally outgrowing dated cRpg concepts, such as coherent script, inspired art direction, memorable NPCs, versatile character advancement, an interface that is made to suit the game and not vice versa, non-twitchy combat and player-world interaction, insisting that he knows better and all of those that disagree are relics of an ancient era. One can picture him masturbating as he creates the "one-mouse-click-and-it's-over" cRpg, all the while using Planescape Torment as inspiration. No doubt he has some business sense, but may he and the retards that let him actively design games burn in hell.

When Fallout was released it wasn't a niche game, it become the game that revitalized the almost dead crpg genre. Fallout is a great example of how to make a crpg that expands on the genre and when they did that people got the game. A Fallout game must come from evolution and not from the autistic perspective of role-playing from the janitor that was promoted to game designer and doesn't even like to play rpgs much. A game that comes from evolution would use a mix of 1st person and 3rd person view (see the last Troika demo) and switchable modes between RT and TB similar to what Fallout Tactics did, which by the way sold very well. They didn't had to make a copy of Fallout but they should have included the old system into the new system and work on the initial game vision and system. A game works both on a vision and a system and neglecting that is fatal.

The fuck? playcircus still isn't banned? Talk about a man who lives for trolling.

That's BGSF moderating for you. They suck.

Remember the moderators don't consider it trolling if you are pro-Beth.

Can't view accounts, man, I'm banned.

It'd be ironic if Fallout 3 is the game that kills the almost dead SP cRPG genre.

Don't worry, its just Mech. I can't believe he really isn't banned. He is the biggest troll on that forum, the majority of flame wars are started by him and his witty commentary.

He hurt a mod's feelings. Really I thought it was a rather silly ban. Would have preferred to see BN go out in a blaze of gunfire and glory calling Beth on their bullshit.

Instead it was because a mod got butthurt in a discussion.

Yep, how did you get banned? I mean, banning an important person on perhaps the most important FO web page?

Strange that there is no drama about this (which I would enjoy)... but then again BN is no drama whore.

It was? I don't remember that. I got some kind of "final warning" pm and then just decided "fuck it" and trolled on some meaningless topics until I was banned. Not exactly a blaze of glory.

I got some strikes on various non-descript topics for trolling, one for flaming a dev (is how summer interpreted it, I didn't, nor did the dev) and one for posting scans.

Generally, I don't think I (or, for that matter, many people here) was BGSF material. Too opinionated, too constructive in my criticism, too open about it when I dislike someone (can't tell you how many times I pm'd mods to tell them they sucked, 'coz honestly, they do).

They noted, I must say, that they were giving me extra leeway, probably because of that fact (community representative etc.)

If they did, that's pretty decent. And like I said, I'm just not BGSF material. They refused to adapt their rules/moderators to the Fallout community, instead importing the mods from the TES forums and implanting them on a completely different community. The enormous mess that is the BGSF is the result, and I don't fit in there, which is just fair is fair in the end, it's their forum after all.

It would look stupid PR wise if they don't already have all the media hating on us freely. So it's only "disaster area" from a community management viewpoint, and honestly, that's been lost ages ago
