"B-b-but there is tooms raiding in this game. Opshunal tooms"

Concept art and trailers of everything but tooms. And is that a character called General Exploration? He needs to come in to NUmb Raider and rouse the troops then, cuz they ain't explorin'.

Tomb raider prototype looks like ICO+SoTC. Would be more fitting than GOW+Uncharted

Played it finally, it's a fairly decent game. It doesn't rape the series like ie. new Hitman does because last good Tomb Raider was released like 10 years ago.

But fuck those QTEs which don't tell you which key to press. And the depiction of wolves in this game.

I finished my playthrough of Tomb Raider 2 just 15 minutes ago.

Fuck that game is awesome, those puzzles are awesome, those jumps are awesome, those traps are awesome. BUT!

Fuck those mobs are awful.... for when they appeared? Camera was shit and so were the controls and low FPS. Played on it's original tr00 platform my trusty PS1. Still it felt more rewarding than any of the modern shit and getting that dagger of Xian after all those levels was more rewarding than the first achievements of just simply beating tutorial of the following games.

Bros, you reminded me how I loved Tomb Raider series. It had unique atmosphere and it was fun to explore those cool looking places. (as a kid Lara was my secret love and I just wanted to explore tombs with her and experience many adventures :) Those were the times...)

BTW I don't know if it's a normal thing, but I remember as a kid I put a TR 2 CD into ordinary radio with CD player and it played ambient tracks and cutscenes audio. 0.o Normally it would just say "no cd", am I wrong?

Wait, you people still have DVD roms to actually use discs? My physical games collection has been gathering dust for the last 4 years, ever since I chucked my DVD rom. I didn't know people actually still used DVD roms.

Damn, the story is so shit. Please tell me Reyes dies horribly at the end.
I though it supposed to be a story of how Lara discovered she enjoyed tomb raiding. Why the fuck is everybody crying and moaning how everything is terrible and they wish to forget all this? My idea of a good treasure hunting adventure is a bit different than looking at characters being butthurt about actually finding a lost city and blaming each other.

Seriously though, most of the characters made me want to vomit, and had clearly been written to appeal almost exclusively to female gamers. The worst were Reyes (stereotypical tough, sassy sista) and the pathetic beta geek twat Alex (complete with caffeine neck tattoo and "Esc" T-shirt ): "Oh you're just so awesome Lara!"

:retarded:

I still buy physical copies of good games.

Quite interesting how all these big AAA games released in recent time are total failures.

Aliens CM, Tombshit Raider, Derp Space 3, SimCity etc. all totally sucked ass. And they didn't even sell that well.

For comparison, the sucky and much hated Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness sold 2.5 million units back in 2003 in a very short period if time. This new one, despite massive marketing and all kinds of forceful expansion of player demographics (wimmin and casuals), just sold over 1 million so far.

This tells us that screwing over a loyal fanbase and instead trying to reach out to everyone is backfiring.

Tombshit Raider

Wouldn't call it that. It certainly is an improvement considering how shit all TR were after Last Revelation. That's where relatively-low sales come from I think, not quality of the game.

I think it's more a case of the word about crappy games spreading more quickly to the hivemind than in the past due to the greater proliferation of the interwebs and the fact that people are realising that they will be able to get new titles dirt cheap if they just hold off a couple of months till the obligatory Steam 50-75% off sale.

It was pretty fun. Combat started out way too easy on medium difficulty but got fairly challenging as the game progressed, but I probably just should have gone for hard combat difficulty from the start. Some of the set pieces were pretty cool, the graphics were nice, the weapon upgrade mechanic gave a decent reason to poke the environments, and the exploration, although pretty damn linear, was still fun in regards to all the crazy acrobatics you do in order to get to the next cutscene. It was honestly longer than I expected; it took me about a week of playing for a couple hours or so a night after work to finish. I'd say 7/10, worth it for $20 or less. But then again, I am getting to be less and less of a :obviously: gamer, so take that as you will.

I find endless levels of amusement reading about the 'controversy' over couple of scenes where female protagonist dies or gets groped, while the game contains shooting hundreds of humans, burning them alive, stabbing them in the face with pickaxe, swimming in pools of blood and bones, not to mention all the crucified, hung, burned, dismembered, quartered, impaled and beheaded bodies fucking everywhere.

When the game offers you to see your female character dying in numerous ways, it's torture porn for sadists, when the game offers you to kill hundreds of people and other animals in gruesome ways, it's normal day at the office, rite?
