Two Player TTRPG Looking For Ideas

Looking for some ideas for a two player TTRPG. I have modified D&D and Gurps over the years to suit one dm, one player sessions. I would like to try something new. Any ideas? I am pretty much open to any setting. Nice size monster variety is always nice. It can be simple or complex. I am very open to hearing ideas that you may have had running with just one dm and one player.

D&D 4 with a lot of skill challenges and an emphasis on combat will work, just randomize monster turns

Call of Cthulhu and it's variants have plenty of 1on1 adventures and plenty of normal ones are simple enough they can be done with only one player (as long as the GM tones down the combat encounters, if there are any).

Run a combat campaign and have your player make a party of four to six characters.

That's my players are doing. I had them all make 6 characters to fill out a party. It does work really well to handle large encounters.
