So, do you need to have a magic staff equipped to use spells in this? It might've been answered in that video but I jumped around in it and had it muted because I fucking hate listening to commentaries.

I don't think so, no. It would kind of fly into the face of the concept of having everyone being able to use spells as long as they have the necessary Lore and Control <Sigil> score.

Unrelated, but I feel kind of bad for Sawyer when I look at Tyranny. Based on some his previous comments and works, it seems he would have been much more at home on Tyranny, with its skill-based system and focus on relationships with different factions, than on Pillars of Eternity, with its class-based system and much less important factions.

If you look at our Eric Fenstermaker interview in retrospect, his answers about what he'd like to see in PoE2 read like a list of "Stuff I like about Tyranny".

Pardon me for the heresy but is this really that much worse than a floating skull named "Morte"

Who cares about names, it's what they say that matters.

Honestly, head wouldn't be as terrible.
I think the only equivalent is really Mr. Funny Floating Talking Eyeballs-Skull.

If it was even more obviously stupid, i.e. Pebble the Rock or Man the Male, than I'd at least be able to accept it as a legitimate attempt at being (stupid-)funny in a Larian Studios sort-of-way. It would still make me cringe, it would be dumb (with the intention of being dumb) instead of pretentious (and dumb).

The writers are adolescents. Desk covered in toys.
That doesn't mean much, to be honest. Wanna guess whose desk this is?

I'm all for collecting shit but you put it on a shelf or display case, not leave in the package and pile them up on your workplace.
