Adding the words "job to" fixes it.
If you want it to be stupider take out the "to" although most people will probably see this as an error.

So: "You job to protect me, Virgil!"
Hmm, nice idea. I'll add it in if there are no objections. EDIT: Still not sure. "You job to protect me,Virgil" doesn't sound like a finished sentence. And does the response "It is, blast it" suit such a line? Any thoughts on this, everybody?

Did you address the bug I found when you take Magnus' bracelet after you kill him where he talks to you as if he's in your party about your lack of respect for his property?

Same deal with characters of normal intelligence. I just ended the dialogue, dropped the camera, gave him the boot and then picked the camera back up.

As Langolier said, it seems the human art is more fitting to the lore. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there occasionally some Half-Orc NPCs who are dominantly Orc-like, but with more pinkish skin pigment? I say change some NPCs (since it's a one by one thing) just to add some diversity to the world.

That is very strange then.
It was definitely his bracelet that I took...

Oh, and in my current save (where he is in my party) his bracelet has no art associated with it. Don't know why this is or if it can be fixed.

In one of the crates in the rat infested warehouse in Tarant, there is an item called 'Electrical Parts'. I may be wrong, but I believe this is the only instance of this item and it is also entirely useless. I would suggest replacing it with 'Small Electrical Parts'.

There are some inaccessible items behind one of the chests in K'na Tha in the last room before reaching the altar. I think there are only two, a healing salve (shown below) and a boomerang. I assume they were meant to be inside of the chest and were misplaced by the developers.

If you end up in the Dernholm Pits before K'an Hua gives you the quest to free Tollo Underhill, you are able to say that K'an Hua sent you to free him.

No, this will be custom content, i.e. somebody else's (not Troika's) vision of the game. I can offer you only two possibilities: either I change half elf PCs to elven art or the things stay the way they are now.

There are some inaccessible items behind one of the chests in K'na Tha in the last room before reaching the altar.
Yes, there are several items like that in the game. You can use ALT+click to get them btw.

Yes, this is a really old issue. I think I'll just lock away the dialogue by script, so if you don't have K'an Hua's quest he will give you only generic greetings (floating lines).

* When in Tarant, even if you have Jared's finance's letter in your inventory and have read it, you will not get the option to mention it, thus making the quest uncompleteble. I can't say if this is intended or not.
It should be OK. Have you actually read the note? It sets the global flag which makes the line in Jared's dialogue appear.
Yes I did, I stated as such in the above line. I can send you a save if you need one?

Well, nobody suggested a better line, so I'm waiting for that.
I think faceless' suggestion would fit well, with a question mark at the end rather than a exclamation.

Thanks for reporting!
Of course, I'll try to put in some more hours tonight.

Wait. A finance's letter? I thought you meant Wilhemina's note. I'm not sure what you mean by a "finance's letter".

Looking at the Half-elf portraits, they look quite elven to me, so I would say change them.
Also, humans are somewhat larger than Elves, and Half-Elves lose a point in Constitution, but gain a point in Dexterity, so a lither build would fit their stats quite well.

I don't think the manual can be considered canon. Is there an instance in the game where it is mentioned that half-elves more closely resemble humans?

Yes, I'm pretty sure that was just a mistake with half elf PCs, no way the developers didn't know what they were doing when they made all half elf NPCs use elven art.

i think the letter puppyonastik is talking about is the one from the crash site. i always forget about that letter by the time of getting to tarant
Well, that's Wilhemina's love letter. As a dumb character you can still give it to Jared, but first you need to ask him his name.

Sorry for the confusion, my Firefox embedded spell checker thought my misspelling of "fiancée's" was meant to be "finance's". :P

Yes I did mean Wilhemina's note. I also don't get the option to ask Jared's name, all I get is a "(14)byebye" or "(14)urgh". It just seems odd to me that my character can write in a journal or read other things like newspapers and other letters, yet can't read this letter (if that's the theory we're using to explain why this isn't working), so i figured that it might be unintended.

Strange. You should get the line #9 as well the first time you speak to him. You can say it only once though.

EDIT: I checked it myself. It works. Although, if you say #9 with out the note in your inventory or with out reading it before then you're screwed, since no lines will appear the next time you speak to him. But you can still ask for a "job" when you say #9 even with out the note. The catch is that you can get the quest only the first time you speak to him, if you cancel the dialogue, then you're screwed. I guess, that's what you did.

I was mistaken, I just quickly ran to Tarant from an earlier save, and I do indeed get to ask him his name. However after he tells me, "Huh? Oh, I see, One of the poor wretches from the factories. MY NAME IS JARED. I AM GUARD HERE." (should be "I AM A GUARD HERE", yay I found a typo too!), I only get the "urgh" option, which closes the dialogue.

Indeed, just did it over a second time and made sure I read the note, you were correct. My apologize for missing it.

Now the question is, should it be changed? Personally I don't think it should screw you over if you talk to him before reading the note, or other wise. What do you think? It doesn't seem logical to me.

I'm getting the bracelet glitch again too. I'm on my second game. With my first game there was glitch but now it's there.

Anyway, in regards to Half-elves. If you're going to change them in your "controversial" patch then I say do it. It will add a little flair to the game I think. Though in the "vanilla" version I think this is more a case of the manual being written after most of the game was already done. To be honest, the only Half-elf picture to me that looks "elfish" is the cut one. The others look a little too think to be elves.

The only way to be screwed is to ask him his name with the note in your inventory but with out reading it. If you don't have the note and haven't read it as well, the "job" line will appear. And if you have read the note but threw it away or something, another line will appear that will still let you complete the quest.

I can change conditions, so the job line will appear even if you have the note in your inventory but haven't read it. If that's what you're proposing.

Sorry, I don't exactly get what you're proposing. Do you support the idea of changing half elves in THIS patch? Just say yes/no and state your reasons. My argument is that all NPCs use elven art and it doesn't make any sense for a PC to be special. If we don't change the art, how it could be explained that all NPCs use different art?

That'll work :D , it doesn't make sense to leave it as it is.

No, I do not think you should change PC Half-Elves in this patch because the manual implies that Half-Elves should look like humans in physical build. I understand that it doesn't make sense for NPC's and PC's to have different art, but it seems to me like it is the NPC's that are wrong. Certainly odd how Troika managed to do that though.

When I said you should go ahead and do it I was referring to your controversial patch that you've mentioned doing in the future.

---

I noticed some incorrect dialog when talking to Bunny at Madam Lil's. Your character says, "I can see why your called Bunny." He should say, "I can see why you're called Bunny."

I think it does, but if you're not happy with it, then perhaps this would serve better:"It your job to protect me, Virgil!"

-

I've noticed that if you refuse to service one of Madam Lil's clients, you can never change your mind. It would be nice if there was another dialogue option to allow for you to do just that.

"You know, that other work you mentioned doesn't sound so bad afterall," or something.

I'm not a grammar NAZI... but

"You protect me, Virgil!" - Is just fine.

Also "It is your job to protect me, Virgil!" also would work.

That's beginning to sound too intelligent.
The original is not fine because the Voice Acted dialogue that follows it doesn't match.

''Innit your job to prutect me, Virgoo?'' sounds more ''stupid'' to me.
