Why does he say there's no regenerating health? There is. Or is it totally different because those are shields? And OMG NERDRAGE LORE ALERT shield generators (iron halos) for space marines are incredibly rare and mostly only worn by commanders and chaplains. edit- i guess you are playing a captain or something

It's regenerating "armor"... You can equip an Iron Halo later for something like bonus regen or an additional layer.

I dunno if having the regenerating shield/armor/etc. is good for the game... But at least it's not a huge buffer - a Nob can take it all out in one hit.

I find it to be a good balance. As you said it can be stripped off easily, and not just by the heavy foes, but it also lets you catch your breath if you can get to cover to get you back in the fight with a chance to stun something and execute it, so you do not get stuck in a situation where you have little health and will die as soon as you leave your hiding spot. The way you regenerate health kinda pushes you already to get close and fight but the shields can help if it gets a bit too intense.

I wonder if you will get to be a Dreadnought at some point? That's honestly what I really want.

Hey guess what, regenerating health is entirely appropriate for most of the games it's implemented in. Everyone should stop eating skyway's vomit, what you just said could be applied to most of the regen health shooters out there.

You die valiantly saving the manufactorum, only to return in the sequel Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2: Space Marine Harder as a dreadnought with a wisecracking techpriest sidekick. Aw yeah. :M

Looks like a Gears of War clone just instead of a cover system there's melee QTE/button mash bullshit....oh joy.

:retarded:

You shouldn't talk about things you know nothing about.

gears was based around a cover system, this is the opposite. It's based around crowd control and performing combos to recover health to keep from dying. Also jet packs.

Oh, also, neat trick. The single F stun (or whatever button you have for stun) is an excellent lead in for combos. There is no lag time afterwards. E.g. instead of 2-2-2-F, do F-2-2-2-F.

Tried it out, got bored after 10 minutes, uninstalled. For a game that tries so hard to be intense, gruesome and bloody, it lacks any sort of emotional impact necessary to make its action interesting. Yes, it's better than another Gears of War clone, but there's nothing about the game that captures my attention beyond "ooh, them orks sure are squishy". Even its execution mechanic felt bland, "kill a dude with attack Y instead of X every 10 seconds" is not exactly my idea of compelling gameplay. It's possible the main game will be more engaging, but the demo sure didn't try to be in any way.

So you get a 30 minute demo for free and quit after 10 minutes instead of at least getting a free whole impression.

Probably didn't even play the jump pack level.

Or try playing on a harder difficulty to see if normal was boring just because it was too easy.

He was fighting the good fight against Deus Ex. He probably figured it would be too obvious if he used the exact same complaints against Space Marine.

Where's skyway, btw? This thread is missing some healthy criticism.

Huh? Just because you don't agree with the criticism, it's not there...? You probably wouldn't have agreed with skyway either ;)

And since I'm posting in this thread:
Not my kind of game, not interested.
