I will definitely enjoy a 40k squad based fps, something like the Star Wars: Republic Commando. I liked that game a lot, and Carth was cool.

from relicnews:

Ok. Gamestop just visited the THQ booth. Nothing was told. Nothing new was shown. But have no fear, I'm sure more will be shown What the guy (Johnathon) did say, was that the game would be very much focussed around what the player does etc. Every decision, every move, every attack would be down to you, the player.

sounds like codex material right there. this game is actually focused around what you do. you can fucking decide where to move and what attacks to chose. choices and consequences, baby.

if you played DoW2 you know, relic is pretty good at that CnC thing. You can do optional defense missions for extra loot and depending on how well you played, you ll even get different highsco.... endings !

I will use Starcraft pictures, is that good also? :)

I think Tool's brain overloaded recently and rebooted to several months ago when he was still spamming Starcraft images nobody cared about.

I don't understand why they shy away from making good games with the 40k license. You could make a perfectly fine FPS with the material, either the high-speed old-fashioned way or in the modern way. Instead they made a pretty horrible FPS game based on the most boring race in the 40k universe. You could make a good TBS game with the material, but they made two mediocre RTS games instead (not that they entirely suck like Starcraft). You could make a fine RPG based on exploration, Hive City gangs or pretty much anything, but they slap Space Marines on Diablo.

Oh, right. A strong brand + mediocre game is still profit.

AND two TBS games (Chaos Gate, which is an x-com clone, and Rites of War, which is a panzer general clone)

I was thinking of this THQ stuff (well, somewhat recent games, anyway, I wouldn't complain if we would get Chaos Gate 2, Space Hulk 3 and so on instead of this junk.).

Final Liberation
Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate
Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War
Space Hulk
Space Crusade

(and from word of mouth only) Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels
(and who knows, since only 3 people played it - it is TB though) Warhammer 40,000: Glory in Death

All together, that's more awesome than about just any other franchise out there.

It looks dangerously like that they've cut the whole co-op and multiple characters element. Way to take the most promising element out of your game.

Oh yea, apparently Chaos is the real enemy of the game. How utterly predictable.

The only thing interesting I find about the game is that they're aren't using a cover based system.
