Has early flash-game vibes, and I mean that in a good way. This kind of side-scrolling shooter can be fun but what's shown here looks jerky and unpolished as hell.

GW and their policies are shit. Their latest moves to shut down content creators is a direct attack on their fans. Fuck them and not a dime will be spent by me on their derivative crap.

When you dream about Metal Slug with orks but the dream becomes a nightmare.

Maybe Guns, Gore and Cannoli, which this looks to be a reskin of isn't that bad but it certainly doesn't look particularly good.

The game will hopefully be amazing. It's being made by the people who made the two Guns, Gore and Cannoli games and both of those were amazing, both artwork-wise and in terms of gameplay, so I have confidence this will be great fun too, as it's the same 2D sidescrolling shootemup style.

Dev Update #3: the Astra Militarum
[Orkish tl:dr]

OIGHT, SO TODAYS WE GON BE TALKIN’ BOUT DEM ‘UMIES WHO NEED MOAR KRUMPIN’
[Full English Version]

What’s up boyz!

Welcome to the third developer update of Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef. In this update we'll be taking a look at one of the hostile factions you’ll encounter in the game: the Astra Militarum. Let’s get started, because we have a lot to show you!

A lot of you Warhammer 40,000 fans probably already know the Astra Militarum, but for those who don’t, we’ve got you covered! Without going into too much detail, the Astra Militarum is the largest fighting force in the galaxy, comprised of countless billions of men and women, all serving the Imperium of Man. All of these people are abiding by the will of the God-Emperor of Mankind, who has been sitting incapacitated on the Golden Throne for millennia.

Now as they are the largest fighting force in the galaxy, it’s pretty much a no-brainer to have them involved in Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef. We’ll be giving you a rundown on the different Astra Militarum troops you’ll be facing throughout the game.

Please do note all visuals are a work in progress, changes may happen as development continues.

Guardsmen
The Guardsmen basically entail any member of the Astra Militarum. Their purpose is to serve the God-Emperor of Mankind and protect Mankind against all threats, like those fungi Orks Waaghing through the galaxy. Not all Guardsmen have the same function, they fulfill every role imaginable from tank crewmen to medics.

3d1f56e98e7838f39e4c43d1459f1272f16c8d4b.gif

Heavy Weapon Team
These guys are a small unit of the Astra Militarum, but come bearing big toys. While this unit is stationary, those big toys comprise a lot of firepower. Their role is pretty straightforward: to obliterate Heretics and Xenos. They also come in different variations, not all big toys are identical. Some squads use Mortars to rain down explosive destruction on their enemies, others are armed with heavy bolters to destroy light vehicles or lascannons to shut down heavy vehicles.

f66ec1e57920b80691dd0aa40421f9daa05f3d83.gif

Commissar
O boy, are commissars feared, but also admired, by their own regiment. These guys are burdened with the duty to maintain troop discipline and morale, pretty much at any cost. And you can take that quite literally! Think of them as Chief Happiness Officers, but cold-blooded and ruthless. They have the absolute authority to punish and execute any member of a regiment who fails in their duties. Liquidating a command officer if necessary is nothing out of the ordinary. The Commissar is easy to differentiate from other units as he’s wearing a distinctive greatcoat and a stunning looking hat.

6fdce582253a815b06239f12166aee1a7289683a.gif

Ogryn
Ogryns are big, beefy blokes who are not shy of using their powerful physique to their advantage. They are abhuman, deformed from the baseline human state, and make for great shock troops. Ogryns may not be the smartest out there, but they do know how to pack a punch, are fearless in battle and strictly loyal to their commander. Just look at this guy, how are you ever gonna stop him?!

7739227d9d157a7abaffe84ca5c52cab8a851086.gif

Sentinel
The Sentinel is a lightweight, bipedal combat walker, manned by only one man. The cool thing is, this fine piece of robotics can traverse any terrain. This fact alone is probably the main reason why it’s the favourite means of transport for Imperial Guard patrols. This Sentinel comes armed with a lascannon, capable of penetrating most armoured vehicles. So you better watch out when you encounter one!

8d5b9dc7a9c1a09fe6be19a24f25595290b7a96d.gif

Leman Russ Punisher
Lastly, let’s talk about the Leman Russ. Those of you who’ve seen the trailer have probably already seen it. Those who haven't watched the trailer (yet), shame! But here’s your chance for redemption! The Leman Russ is the main battle tank of the Astra Militarum, so there is no way we were not going to put it in the game. It’s named after the Space Wolves Primarch, Leman Russ! The tank is a slow vehicle, but the lack of speed is made up for in brute force and survivability.

Who would’ve thought that the Astra Militarum could look this charming?

Dev Update #4: the Genestealer Cult
WHAT’S UP BOIZ! LETZ TALK BOUT DIZ OTHA FACTION YOU BE KRUMPIN’ IN DIZ GAME WE MAKIN’: DA GENESTEALER CULT!
Welcome to another dev update for Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef. Today we’ll be talking more in-depth about another faction you’ll encounter throughout the game: the Genestealer Cult.

Let’s kick it off with a small general introduction to the Genestealer Cult. Like any good cult, the Genestealer Cult is a secret xenos-worshipping society, hiding in the dark corners of the Imperial Underworld across the galaxy. The cults' purpose is to take control of Imperial worlds in the name of their Xenos god. The moment they’ve conquered a world, the Hive Mind (an entity composed of pure psychic energy) will pick up on the news and consume the world, killing everyone. Sounds fun, right?

Now let’s take a look at the different units of the Genestealer Cult we’ve put into Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef.

Please do note all visuals are a work in progress, changes may happen as development continues.

Genestealer
Starting off with the Genestealer. The Genestealer is a lifeform of the Tyranid race, genetically designed by the Hive Mind to infiltrate the settled worlds of intelligent species. The Orkz are in luck! Their purpose is to invade imperial worlds and destroy societies from within through establishing so-called “Genestealer Cults”. These units require no weapons as their talons and claws are razorsharp.
95f3e946604351c8a76a786348e8c121b81da43a.gif

Biophagus
So the Biophagus. He’s a mad scientist who mastered the art of gene-manipulation and bio-alchemy. They basically create the contaminations used to infect victims with xenos genetics. Once a victim has been infected with said concoction, their body starts to morph, eventually becoming susceptible to the sinister influence of the cult. The Biophagus comes equipped with all kinds of shenanigans. The first thing you notice will probably be his staff-like, pointy weapon, his injector goad. This weapon serves as both a tool for their bio-alchemy as well as a horrific weapon of war. Next to this weapon, the Biophagus is also easily distinguishable by the funky laboratory stuff he has on his back.
c2aed6169f724f934a1989141964cfaaee2d13f4.gif

Aberrant
The Aberrant is a Genestealer hybrid who was born mutated. Comparable to the Astra Militarum Ogryns, these guys are also big blokes with inhuman strength, but also quite limited in intelligence. Our rendition of the Aberrant comes with a two-handed, well in this case three-handed, Heavy Power Hammer. Their brute force is an incredibly important asset in battle, wreaking havoc and carnage on any foe, whilst moaning slurred praise to the Genestealer Patriarch as they charge in.
e7f50b307f289cd40ebdf086625761090a16892d.gif

Neophyte
As close to humans as the Genestealer Cult is gonna get. Born as a Genestealer hybrid of the fourth generation, these guys will actually pass for fully human, which is perfect for infiltration operations. Their main purpose is to infiltrate Astra Militarum regiments to eventually take over control entirely. They will stay incognito until the day of insurrection, revealing their true allegiance. They are pretty fanatical, and will do pretty much anything their masters ask of them, without hesitation. Proper cult material.
38b277b4372307956b84b5fe06cb1793949af4a3.gif

Acolyte & Metamorph
The Metamorph is the last unit we’ll be looking at. He’s a Genestealer hybrid of the first or second generation, but reached his metamorph state by mutation through the will of the Hive Mind. Being mutated is perceived as a sign of greatness by their brethren, making them hailed as saints blessed by the Xenos gods themselves. Other cultists please these genetic monstrosities, appeasing the otherworldly powers that brought them into being.

Dev Update #5: the Orks
[ORKISH TLDR]

OI GITZ! IN DIZ UPDATE WE BE TALKING BOUT YER BOYZ FAVORITE BOYZ: ORKS! DEY ARE DA BESTEST, DA BIGGEST, DA MIGHTIEST FIGHTIN' FORCE OUT DER IN DA GALAXY! YA FINK ORKS ARE DUMB, YER KINDA TRUE! BUT WHO NEEDZ BRAINZ WHEN YOU CAN JUST OUTNUMBA THOSE PUNY RATS! LEZ SEE WHOS IN DA GAME, 'ERE WE GO!
What's up boyz!

Welcome to the fifth dev update for Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef. We know what you guys are here for. This time we’ll be taking a closer look into a fan favourite faction: the Orks! We’ll be giving a brief rundown of the Orks you’ll encounter throughout the game, specifically only the non-playable Orks. The player-controlled Orks will be shown in-depth in a future dev update soon!

So the Orks are a savage, warlike race spread across the Galaxy, and commonly referred to as the Greenskins. The Orks are numerous beyond belief, always driven to fight and conquer, threatening every single intelligent species of the Galaxy. They are probably most known for their violent crusades, called Waaagh!

There are a fair share of different Ork units you’ll be encountering in Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef. Let’s have a look!

Please do note all visuals are a work in progress, changes may happen as development continues.

Deffkopta
The Deffkopta is a one-man, or rather said one-ork, aircraft controlled by so called Flyboyz. They are made from scavenged Warbike frames, removing the wheels and adding some rotors. These flying vehicles make an immense amount of noise, while spitting out a constant stream of bullets. Perfect for Orks. Operating one of these vehicles is more luck than wisdom, spraying around bullets in the hope some of them would land on the target. Be wary, as these aircrafts are extremely brittle and prone to falling apart at any moment, quite a bummer.

8d7b93069b262a9b82a92807dc939360a3466a45.gif

Gretchin
The Gretchin is a smaller subspecies of the Orks, and acts as a servant for their bigger brother Orks rather than an addition to their warband. They are marked by their cowardly nature, but also have an inherited love for fighting, be it against weaker foes. In a society where size matters, Gretchin are almost bottom of the barrel and used for the dirtiest jobs. Gretchin are usually used as living shields, are stepped on to traverse difficult terrain and even eaten as emergency rations. They are also pretty sporty, playing football with their bigger brothers, but mostly as … euh… ball. It’s the thought that counts

694b253c1b1b9b7fbd59dbb426b1fab3511c1fb0.gif

Ork Boy
The Ork Boyz are the different types of troops deployed by the Orks. There are many types of Boyz, often based on their weaponry and equipment. Common types include Slugga Boyz, Shoota Boyz, etc... Average size is about two metres tall, but varies greatly depending on their tactical role. When Ork Boyz gang up they’ll form a Mob, which is led by an Ork Nob.

8d7a621cbb2a59255d78dc85e04c886fe6ce0735.gif

Ork Nob
The Ork Nob is the leader of a Mob, being both feared and revered by his clan because of his greater-than-average size and strength. While the Nob is larger than a Boy, they are still smaller and subservient to the Warboss. To rise through the Orkish ranks requires cunning brutality, brutal cunning and you know... smashing the head of any challenger to the Nob’s throne. The Nob is arrogant, headstrong and always ready for a pit-fight to increase his stature. They rule with an iron fist above their mob, making bloody examples to show the Boyz who’s in charge. Distinguished by their trophy-adorned equipment and impressive scars earned in pit-fights.

4af598ae6b41c5933f12861aef04f9b0a1a52bb6.gif

Big Mek
The most skilled Mekboys are known as Big Meks. They are masters of technology, unsurpassed amongst the Orkoid races. During battle they are often seen generating force fields to protect themselves and their creations. The Big Mek leads a group of lesser Mekboyz armed with a wide variety of Greenskin equipment and Kombi-weapons.

064533f3709040fa7faa98ae1cfac0390440c9be.gif

Squig
Yes, oh yes! Look how adorable he is! The Squig is the simplest Orkoid life form and comes in multiple shapes and sizes. These different types of Squig each have their own functionality within the Ork society. Most generally they are used as a primary food source, so yeah... they get eaten. And that’s exactly what their purpose throughout the game will be, health packs to keep you going! So keep your eyes peeled in-game and spot those healthy squigs whenever you are in dire need.

099f41b3feded5574b67c451c8e91d82d12dab69.gif

Killa Kan
The Killa Kan is a monstrous trash can, but an ever so dangerous one. It’s a bipedal walker armed with a selection of close-combat and ranged weapons, operated by a Gretchin who’s literally fused into the Killa Kan. The fusing is a painful process for the Gretchin, Killa Kan has no feelings, and is carried out by both a Mekboy and a Painboy. The Killa Kan is quite weak by Ork standards, but it will still blow anything crossing his path to bits.

10a82dce2f476eb41e5b6f5e2eaba88f454bddb0.gif

These were all the Orkoid lifeforms you’ll encounter throughout Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef. More information on the playable Orks will follow soon, probably in one of the next updates. Enjoy the weekend and we’ll see you in the next dev update

Guns Gore & Canolli 2 is alright. Simple design, but efficient. It's very reminiscent of early 2000s Flash sidescrolling shooters, which of course were iterations of early 90s/late 80s ones. THIS is what I call a casual game. Straightforward. Short. Pickup and play gameplay. Everything it does it does right. Co-op. Simple Fun. It's not going to win any awards or be remembered as a timeless classic but it is nonetheless worth a shot.

I imagine this will be the case with this new game also.

OI BOYZ, TODAYZ WE IZ GON TALK BOUT DA THREE SPACE MARINE UNITZ IN DA GAME! DER MAY ONLY BE A HANDFUL, BUT DEY KOME WIT’ LOTS UV FIREPOWA AN DECKED OUT ‘N RESISTANT POWA ARMOUR!

What’s up boyz!

This update went out a bit later than we expected, but nevertheless, it’s out now! Today we are going to take a look at the final faction we’ll be adding to the game: the Space Marines. This update will be slightly shorter than the previous ones as there will only be a handful of Space Marine units in the game. Let’s take a look!

Whenever someone thinks about Warhammer 40,000 the first thing that pops to mind will probably be the Space Marines. Widely seen as the defenders of Humanity and the greatest of the Emperor of Mankind’s warriors. They are superhuman, transcending the normal human state by a harsh regime of genetic modification, psycho-conditioning and rigorous training. Clad in ancient power armour and equipped with the most potent weapons known to man. Space Marines are also called the God-Emperor’s Angels of Death for a reason.

Let’s start going over the three Space Marine units you’ll encounter throughout Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef.

Please do note all visuals are a work in progress, changes may happen as development continues.

Intercessors
Intercessors are the core infantry unit of the Primaris Space Marines. They are reliable and adaptable warriors, able to lay down fire in every situation, be it while charging into battle or holding terrain. Whatever the strategic challenge is, these folks are up for it! Being so versatile is also the biggest reason why Intercessors are deployed so numerously in battle. Suited in heavy power armour and equipped with the finest weaponry, these Marines are ready to take on anyone who wants some.

e8b8e3baa2c7ba1c72b83fd2fcd32b8a71678efe.gif

Chaplain
Chaplains are spiritual folks, promoting the values and beliefs of the Chapter, and in rarer cases the actual worship of the Emperor of Mankind. They lead their brethren in battle, fighting wherever the foe is the most fierce, praising the Emperor with every opponent of his that gets destroyed. Chaplains visually stand out from the others with their skull-shaped helmet and mace-formed power weapon.

86c04c949c5d13380ad7d9777ef4e78a8c7070d0.gif

Invictor Tactical Warsuit
The Invictor Tactical Warsuit, or in short the Invictor, is a lightly armoured Imperial combat walker, often providing fire support in the field. Designed with sound-dampening materials they are able to move at great speed with minimal sound output. Due to their impressive strength, resilience and firepower they are deployed in every capacity. Armed with a twin-linked Ironhail Autocannon the Invictor is able to unleash devastating salvos, enabling him to obliterate packs of enemies in just a matter of seconds.

On the battlefield, the warsuit is piloted by a Primaris Space Marine. He’s on a break right now, but he’ll be back when the game releases!

Ready For WAAAGH!?
Oi Boyz!

Whatz da score?!

Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef is just around the corner! Figuratively speaking that is. In about two weeks you’ll be able to set foot on Luteus Alpha, and start your explosive adventure to retrieve that luxuriant hair squig of yours! We can’t wait for you to finally start playing! The countdown until the Warboss’ bomba takes off has started.

Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef will become available at 5pm CET/8am PT, Orktober 20th for €19.99/$19.99/£16.49.
Launching on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 release date to be announced.

The demo will stay up between now and launch, so if you haven't tried it yet, or you just want to bridge the gap until release, you'll still be able to check it out.

The story
Luteus Alpha. It’s one of the most important planets in the Armageddon sector. Mostly because of its large supply of promethium, needed to support the war raging on in the sector. Ogruk Gutrekka, Warboss of Waaagh! Gutrekka, noticed this, and decided he wants the world’s supplies of promethium all for himself.

And that’s where you, Gargaz, pop into the story. Set out to take over Luteus Alpha, together with your Warboss, before Ogruk decides to nick your luxuriant hair squig and kicks you out of his bomba!

While crashing downwards to the surface of Luteus Alpha, Gargaz swears he will take revenge on Ogruk for taking his precious. Determined to return this finest of accessories (and pet), the indignant Gargaz must fight his way through all manner of foes to challenge Warboss Ogruk himself.

f61fa53c1502eb3d702e31adf66c7e4a8616887d.png

You’ll play as Gargaz Teefgrabba, a simple ork, who was leading a rather simple life before boarding the Warboss’ bomba. Krumpin’ humies every occasion he gets is what he does best, and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing throughout Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef. Krumpin’ humies, and other not so human creatures.

Tackle the dangers in Luteus Prime as a lone wolf in singleplayer, or round up the warband and beat 'em up with up to four players. Multiplayer can be accessed in local play or through online play.

Reaching more dakka!
The Greenskins love their dakka more than anything in the universe, and there’s plenty to find on Luteus Alpha. Fill your dakka needs with a total of twenty weapons, split across five categories: Sluggas, Shootas, Boomstikks, Rokkit Launchas and Burnas.

Learn more about the weapons in this previous dev update.

Unlocking these new weapons is really straightforward. You can unlock them by spending the in-game currency called Teef at the Mek Shop. Teef are earned consistently throughout the game; by killing (mini)bosses and collecting so-called teefcaches. Access the Mek Shop in either the main menu or at any checkpoint you reach and go on a spending spree.

29a63f54038c283fb9941b337fc4ee1134e23b97.jpg

The Mek Shop gots it all! The finest looted shooties, and hats, to spend your Teef on! But spend wisely, as (mini)bosses and teefcaches only drop a limited amount of currency.

Next to the weapons, there are four distinct playable classes, each with their own passive ability, melee weapon and throwable. Players can freely switch between the classes while in a lobby. The classes are designed true to their lore, and give you the option to switch up the gameplay to cater to your playstyle.

Learn more about the classes in this dev update.

As mentioned, you’ll be encountering a lot of different enemies; Astra Militarum, Genestealers, Space Marines, and even other orks will try to smash your face! There are also multiple stronger, tougher foes, the so-called bosses, who will try to stop you in your tracks! Those who have seen the trailers and previous communication may already have an idea who some of these bosses are, so if you haven’t watched the trailer yet, be sure you do! We wouldn’t want to spoil too much, you’ll have to find out and encounter the rest of the bosses in your playthrough!

Ork vs Ork!
Next to the story mode gameplay, there is the Player versus Player mode (both local play and online play), or should we call it… Ork vs Ork! Scrap it out with your buddies, and show them who's boss in all-out brawls. These fights are with up to four players and can be either every ork for himself or based on teams.

When creating a PvP match you’ll be able to select one of three game modes: Deathmatch, King of the Hill and Juggernaut. You’ll also be able to select the number of lives each player has, at which killcount the game will end and the time limit. When prefered, there’s also the option to exclude certain weapons (looking at you, squig chugga) or even whole categories from being used. And to add a little extra spice you can choose whether or not you want health/waaagh squigs to be present in the arena, and even low gravity zones!

4af77d58baf1b612db0bd75c53074775752763c6.jpg

In total there are seven versus maps, each made with the essence of certain locations in the story. Good luck in brawling it out with your friends, and claiming the truthful title of Warboss!

Getting physical!
Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef is also having a physical release for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 & 5, through partnership with ININ Games who will support the release.

If you are looking to get your own physical copy, and literally get a hold of the game, there are still copies available for pre-order. Check them out here.

The Soundtrack
Back when we first released our demo during Steam NextFest in February we got a lot of response to the music being played during the final battle, played by our very own Six Shootas. Later on we released a clean version of the theme song, and it has been listened to a lot since then. During the Save and Sound festival we released a special look behind the scenes on how the soundtrack came together.

And today we’d like to announce that the full OST will come to multiple digital streaming platforms, pre-saving already available through following link: https://lnk.to/Warhammer40000-SBT

That’s all for this overview! We are very excited for the release, and can’t wait for everyone to try out the game. To conclude this overview, a word of thanks from the whole Rogueside team to the fans, and the Warhammer community, who’ve embraced our latest addition to the IP. The support we’ve received throughout development, and the validation that people would love to see more shoota action, fueled us to give it our all and create the best version of Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef we can.

Thank you, and see you soon (for real now) on Luteus Alpha!

Game is fun, although it's shaping up to be quite short. If nothing else, I do like the campy Wh40k vibe, the visuals and the sound design (both OST and stuff like character voices).
