With so many remakes and resurgences of old genres (much of which are crap orjust reasons to cash in, like fallout 3) I was thinking does anyone know who currently holds the liscense for theLands of Lore series by Westwood?

IMO a new game set in the franchise following the forumal of the 1stgame would be the shit.

of course EA has the license so the series is pretty much dead...

btw, you're spamming too much (new) Andhaira, this is a place for serious and general interest discussions... oh wait...

You know, if EA has the liscvnese then there is a chance that Bioware might end up using it to amke a new LoL game!

That could be great! Heck, Bioware has some real rpg fans in its team who have played the golden oldies...they may actually request to do something like this. Especially considewring they have not yet made a 1st person game, and currently sales wise 1st person is selling rather well (Oblivion, fallout 3, etc)

Bioware making a LoL game?
Are you serious?
Bioware make shitty combat and silly characters. Doesn't fit together with something that's supposed to be a fun dungeon crawler.

Baldurs Gate 2 was a mastepiece. Please see my award winning thread on the subject (aka the Golden Era ofRPG's thread)

Yes Bioware has yettoachieve thesamelevel of amazingness, but this could be their ticket.

What was wrong with Lands of Lore? It compares quite well to other games of the same type I enjoyed. eg: Dungeon Master, Bloodwych, Eye of the Beholder, etc. So lets hear what the problems are.

Lands of Lore was a good but not great game, at least the first part was. Making another game in that style would certainly be nice - but I didn't find the setting of the game that important. A successor in spirit but playing on another world would be enough - there's no need for the license or anything.

Bioware is already doing a new Lands of Lore game. It's called Dragon Age.

:rimshot:

BTW, BG2 was not epic in any way other than its attainable PC levels. It was cheesy and Monty Haul to the nth degree. I did finish it, though.

The first Lands of Lore was very good. The second and third with 3D graphics prevent me from enjoying those games. It's not graphics whoring, those graphics are shitty the point of causing physical pain to the player eyes.
