Why do you guys hate on DA for being mature and gritty?

Personally, I've enjoyed almost every single trailer or promo that BioWare has given us for this game. I'm hoping this ends up being the darkest, most mature, grittiest game ever made.
This seems like it could become one of the campiest games in quite a while. Why do so many of you guys oppose this?

The ones involving sex are teh horrible.

OMG

I just noticed they always use a human character for those - how would it work with a dwarf?

Will they get on her knees or what

Also, why is the party so close in the second pic?

I'M BEING SERIOUS.
Really. I found the trailers to be silly and hilarious. This looks like it could become a very campy game.

I forsee myself laughing a lot at just how silly the plot/dialogue is.

You just ruined what could have been an amusing thread. I hope you're happy.

The codex truly is the bizarro anti matter world where saying something good about a game gets 12 people saying you are a troll.

Troll or no. Discuss.
Definately troll.

Why are you guys calling me a troll?
I never said that DA's cutscenes were anything but terrible. But, that being said, I've found myself constantly laughing at just how bad they are. I admit to having a lot of fun watching the cutscenes. They were hilarious.

How does this make me a troll? It seems to me that most of you guys have also laughed at these trailers.

It's not about saying anything good but "I've enjoyed almost every single trailer or promo" or "darkest, most mature, grittiest game ever made". Especially the second one, which is just repeating marketing buzzwords, is a strong suggestion of trolling. DriacKin's previous ironic comments towards maturity of DA also help.

It's based on the fact that this is a sophisticated mature experience.

What's wrong with you people? Dragon Age is a SOPHISTICATED and MATURE experience. You guys simply aren't sophisticated enough to appreciate it.
There are two kinds of elves in Dragon Age:
1. Really hot ones with gigantic boobs that you can fuck.
2. Male elves

Trolling right there.
Weresloths is just dumb. As is everybody who jumps the "codex hates everything and especially DA" bandwagon.

But keep on, all of you. It is somewhat entertaining. And when it degenerates into somewhat boring it is easy to ignore.

Clarification: I hope that the rest of the game is able to maintain the high level of silliness and hilariousness that we've seen from the trailers.

I'm looking forward to the game. Camp or no camp.

Shit, the movie Army of Darkness was HIGH camp, but that didn't make it not entertaining.

And if people call you a troll here, THAT is irony. Just ignore em and move on.

I liked the gameplay trailers that showed some real RPGness and the idiocy of the trailers was seemingly absent. Some cut scenes are good while the others are bad, especially with characters who look like their from some chick flicks. I almost wasn't able to stomach the levels of X-TREME in the official intro or whatever it was. I honestly think it was the worst game intro I have ever seen.

The Codex generally hates on the trailers, and makes assumptions about the final product based on BioWare's past offerings which is fair. BioWare does have a habit of rehashing the same stuff over and over again and from the trailers it initially appears that BioWare's interpretation of dark and mature is that of a pre-teen's, but that could just be the idiocy of the marketing personnel.

Just because the trailers are terrible doesn't mean the game itself will be. I'll wait until I've actually played the game in its entirety to pass judgment. I'm cautiously optimistic about Dragon Age but I do agree with a lot of the folks here about some things such as the mediocre marketing, and I can see how the bad marketing combined with the typical over-enthusiastic PR could push some people away.

I had the same hopes for Mass Effect. Somehow, Bio managed to fuck up a game about EXTREME SPACE ADVENTURES OF A COLLAR-GRABBING SPACE MARINE IN SPACE by making it as bland and boring as humanly possible.

Speaking of camp, should I do a Sengoku Rance LP? A full translation patch came out recently. /hijack

Except trailers are based on in-game stuff. And then those gross gameplay videos where everyone gets covered in blood after fighting 4 rats. Haha DA is going to be a yet another Bioware crap.

The over-abundance of blood is definitely ridiculous but it may very well be changed in the final product, or adjustable by the player under options.

Yeah. They already confirmed that. There's a slider for gore. You can have little to no splatter, or you can practically swim in it after stubbing your toe.

So complaining about it is sort of stupid.
