Why is Freelancer considered good?

I loved Freelancer, but the game needs a mod like Crossfire to make the game truly great.

if possible, crossfire enchances all the worst of the worst of the cream of the worst of the game up to 11 thousands. 10 minutes to kill a single mob since it has unlimited regen, unlimited repairs and unlimited "i run off screen, fuck you, but i'll keep regenerating and repairing".
