A rule that avatars must only be from video games. If people could choose, we'd have all sorts of non-game themed nonsense. We momentarily did after the initial move to XenForo, but I still kept to the theme by choosing concept art of Jack from Mass Effect.

If people could do whatever they wanted that would be very bad. There would be total anarchy, like on RPG Watch or any other mild-mannered forum that lets people upload their own avys. It simply wouldn't do.
