[ Interview ]

Polish site Gry.o2.pl sat down with 1C and Unicorn Game Studios to celebrate The Week of the RTS and also ask them about XIII Century: Death or Glory, a medieval RTS.

Our main aim was to show the fascinating beauty of a real medieval battle, all its tactical varieties. This and interest in military history led to the situation when we decided to create this game. In this game we've concentrated on the war and its tactical part - battles. We have intentionally decided to put away all the politics and economics and diplomacy. One should keep in mind that in the past all these factors led to multiple wars. This is the reason why we decided no to stew players with all these things, but to put him directly on the battlefield, before the main battle of the war starts. We really think that the players will appreciate that.

Sounds good to me, but I imagine many gamers expecting something Total War-ish (just look at the screens) will be disappointed by the lack of strategy options.

Read: XIII Century Interview
