Post your favorite locations/areas/levels, mostly from RPGs but other games are also ok.

My top pick is undisputed: Ash Lake from Dark Souls 1. Through a stroke of pure dumb luck, I managed to find it completely on my own (I accidentally hit the chest behind the first illusory wall, and my weapon was long enough to hit the second illusory wall behind the chest). After that, a long descent through awkward platforming and a surreal environment populated by weird enemies, not knowing wtf this is all leading up to (a boss fight with a tree demon at the bottom floor and a tree-themed spear, I was assuming).

And then it happened. You walk out of the roots of a giant tree into the least expected place: the ashen shores of an otherworldly ocean, immeasurably tall archtrees in the distance, and the most unique and transcendent piece of music in the game. This was the second time in my life when playing a video game made me have a profound aesthetic, if not religious, experience, feeling transported into a higher dimension, a world of pure beauty and meaning. (The first time happened many years ago while playing Soul Reaver). Finding the path to an actual, live dragon that unfurls its wings and silently offers to join its covenant was the cherry on top of this peyote cake.

Other favorites: the Hive and Fortress of Regrets from PS:T, Kain's palace and the Sarafan tomb (and the Silenced Cathedral) in LoK: Soul Reaver, the entire first part of VTM: Bloodlines (a slightly-dreamlike atmosphere that captures the essence of urban mystery, what could be hiding behind these seemingly-ordinary streets and buildings), the part of Deus Ex where you work for UNATCO and have no idea how this story is gonna go and then get imprisoned in the secret part of those same headquarters, etc. etc. etc.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Along the lines of trees, in Icewind Dale there is a city you stumble across. In Kuldahar you find a great oak that keeps the location warm or whatever - but its a staggeringly great location map and kind of takes you out of a hack n slash game to a much more defined world. It's amazingly atmospheric as most of the game is frozen wastes - makes you sort of want to protect that place.

Fable 1, demon door in Hero Guild.

Probably most of the locations that have that Russell Shaw's flawless masterpiece playing. But that one is still special, you don't want to leave.

World of Warcrafts dungeons and areas were consistently impressive.
Uldaman and Gnomeregan were my favorites:

Baldur's Gate - The wilderness maps in general.

Chrono Cross - Dead Sea. The remains of a future never meant to be.

Fallout - The Glow. Descending into that crater to explore the ruins of a distant past, the eeriness of the music letting you know you're entering forbbiden ground. *takes Rad-X*

Bloodborne - Hypogean Gaol. Something dark and twisted is brewing in the depths of Yahargul.

Monster Hunter - Forest and Hills, area 10. The lush canopy of trees, the sunlight shining through the leaves, the ambiance that gives the place an ethereal feel. Good times.

Night City. All of it. From the slums and neighbourhoods of warehouses along the coast to the downtown skyscrapers. From the deserts in the east to the (mostly unused for game purposes) starport in the west.

Maybe not a strict RPG but World of Warcrafts dungeons and areas were consistently impressive.
I also think many areas in the open-world itself are extremly atmospheric. I feel the newer expansions fall off a bit because they are trying too hard to create a certain atmosphere and lost their sense of subtlety. But many vanilla locations are superb when it comes to atmosphere.

The other game I want to mention: I feel the cities in KC:D are very atmospheric. All the details in the buildings, the music, the groundedness and the entire vibe. Very cozy.

And the ruins of despair of Klonoa 2, of which I cannot find a single good image.
