GURPS Myth fucked up the mythology.

Not that it really had any choice.

It had a few holes it needed to patch up. TBH some of it should have been left ambiguous or

but I thought the character templates were decent.

Weren't there Fetch PC's or is that a figment of my twisted imagination?

I believe they had the templates for them just as they do every creature. Basically, they leave it open for a fetch PC, but it wasn't recommended.

I don't really see why one couldn't play as them other then that they are so alien and foreign it would be hard to write a good character. Their only motivation is to kill and to return to their home dimension... which might actually make a cool game :D

What happened during the release of Myth 2?
the installer erased your hard drive. the version that they released after was actually a previous one. the "real" m2 had more features including 32-player support instead of TFL's 16. supposedly more cool shit was left out (going on nearly 12 years with my memory of this!), but the installer issue is true.

32 player 2t games? Hmmm.. :D

I could've sworn there were guidelines for roleplaying a Fetch who taught itself to be human or something lol

Playing as an alien priestess pretending to be human? Hmmm..

Wow... how fucking stupid. They were probably big enough to just publish themselves, but in the interest of "bizniz" they sign with THEM of all people? Not only that, but after buying back their fucking company from MS they then go and get bought by Activision?

Hey Jason Jones! Fire this Harold guy and tell Alex Seropian to stop making Flash games and rejoin Bungie then make another fucking good game. Find Greg Kirkpatrick to write a story. DO it! DO it now!

No I think it was in the sense of:

ONCE I WAS A SOULLESS INTERDIMENSIONAL FIEND, BUT NOW I KNOW THE POWER OF HUMAN FRIENDSHIP...

I happen to have my trusty GURPS Myth book in front of me!

Apparently it says a Fetch PC is really hard to do and would require that the Fetch PC is part of a very evil group that is focused on destruction. They also say that there is a possibility that a Fetch PC might work for the forces of Light if they believe it might send them home. It points out that such an agreement would cause the Fetch great internal conflict.

One of the Quest seeds is about a Fetch that contacts one of the party members about sending all the Fetch back to their home. It's angle is that they would all leave and thus not be around to flay humans and wear their skins!

All in all they seem to be focused just on returning home. They worked with Balor and Soulblighter simply because they made promises to return them and because they allow them to kill. Still... given how much the Fetch want to return home, you'd think they'd be uber pissed at Balor for summoning them in the first place! Or perhaps it's just that they didn't mind being summoned to kill, it's just that now they're stuck without Balor...

Anyways, this thread is now about Myth RPG.

DISCUSS!!!

OK, I hate kotick as much as the next guy, but that title is somewhat deceptive and inflammatory. Those were downright tame compared to what I'm used to reading from kotick.

No wonder Blizzard is going down the shitter if that's what he thinks.

Bungie is a singular subject last I checked.

I believe that was the point. Wasn't the whole reason they wanted to leave because they were sick of making Halo games but MS wasn't interested in anything else?

He knows nothing but corporate management/CEO shit.

Nothing at all about games, and doesn't care to know. He'll just say whatever.

Yes, and "high quality" for Kotick means "Makes lots of money."

Are people seriously getting their panties in a knot over Kotick displaying that he doesn't know much about game quality? You might as well ask Steve Jobs about the technical details of how his newest ICrap works.

Nope, but I've always considered GAU-8/A to be pretty impressive piece of hardware. Kotick getting pulverized by a barrage of 30mm rounds would certainly be a hilarious sight, hopefully he would get to make "Oh Shi-" face before getting shredded, for some extra lulz.

What happened during the release of Myth 2?

TBH I don't get why they sold out to MS other then being tired of being broke all the time but yeah I was pissed.

Good to see they're free, but I doubt they'll ever do anything worthwhile. I wish they had tried their hand at an RPG. They used to make some really great stories and even Halo seems to have a decent story for popamole.

Perhaps an RPG set in the Myth world using the GURPS license. I mean, they already made the core system.

Oh well, they were a great company and I still consider Pathways into Darkness, Marathon, and Myth to be some of the best games ever.
