MICROIDS - DRACULA 4 : THE SHADOW OF THE DRAGON TEASER

Discover the long awaited adventure game Dracula 4 and follow the path of Ellen Cross through the world.

Dracula 4 : The Shadow of the Dragon will be available on PC, Mac, iOS and Android summer 2013.

:bounce:

Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon kicked ass. I really liked that game. Looking forward to this! <3

I've been trying to play Dracula 3 but it's got so many problems on my W7 machine.

Video problems?

Yeah, first a video flickering problem, then major ghosting in the game. I think I finally fixed it by running it in a window, but that's kind of a bummer for a horror atmosphere game.

Do you also have an NVidia card? if so there is a bug currently that they have not fixed that effect a number of these adventure games sadly. And IIRC, windowed mode is the only way to fix it. Something like that.

EDIT: There is a bug with the Nvidia drivers that they still have not fixed (just to clarify).

Aren't they working on Syberia 3 currently?

This looks very similar to Still Life.

woah, wtf is this shit? I just wiki'ed this game series and the first two games have a 1/10 and 2/10 respectively. Are those games really bad?

I've not played them, and chances are if the scores are that low then they probably are bad, but in general just be aware that adventure games tend to get rated lower (especially if, like the video suggests, they came around during the nadir of the adventure game), because they're not popular (especially not ten years ago) and I remember a lot of harsh reviews for adventure games that ended up being actually alright.

Not from what I remember, although the puzzles really weren't that great and the series overall suffered because each game was made by a different developer. They're definitely worth playing and first two games were released on PS1 as well, surprisingly enough.

That would be probably too harsh, but "half-assed" would be the most appropriate word. Incredibly short (a few hours at most), with mostly incredibly easy and blatant "puzzles"; the second one was also a retarded continuation of a concluded story made arbitrarily to churn moar sequel.

While it wasn't incredibly bad, it wasn't good either. Incredibly underwhelming. That's a shame, because those tiny bits of menacing "we don't like strangers snooping around here" atmosphere had potential.

Oh fuck..... here we go.

Honestly, sometimes the puzzles in adventure games can be so obscure, bizarre, with questionable design choices like pixel hunting or items spawning in already checked containers, that without knowing how the "hardest" design plans look, I'm not condemning it.

Besides, it's not a problem as long as the "casual" easiness in such game is an afterthought and not designed with it in mind. Like Silent Hill 2.

Was just gonna point how Silent Hill 2 and 3 did a great of job varying the difficulty of the riddles/puzzles in the different difficulties. I can't think of any other game that does that.

I played only second (and third) game but I don't think it was bad. Atmosphere and story were good, graphics... wel... ugly, but I don't care :)

Both Scratches and Darkness Within 1 received some really poor critic reviews too. It should be common gaming knowledge to ignore that nonsense or else you're going to miss some adventure gems.

Couldn't played 3rd game in Win7 thanks to that bug with Nvidia. It's nice to see it is still alive and kicking...
Previous 2 games are medicore at best, they had potantial but they wasted it.
I hope new game has lesser amount of bugs this time.

I never played the first 2. Just only played 3 which was really good, I really enjoyed it.

I assume you are talking about the original version of the game released in 2008 I think. They later released a "casual" version in two parts which was dreadful. I hope they learned their lesson.
