Help required! please
So I got to what the game describes as Final Battle. (good god I hope it actually is...)

There's this statue with 500hp which stops after you lump it for a three figure sum, followed by 3 Enchanted Blades combined with a 500hp Wizard (!!!) who then stops after you lump him fora three figure HP. You then start fighting the statue again... and this is where I'm at.

I have Fogrim, Ado and Cannie do that plus myself, a rogue wizard thingy charisma jobby bard-like.

We have... 1 healing Potion, 3 Oneberry Juices and one Magic Potion between us.

Do I need to re-start before the entrance to the castle (yes, I held a save point outside the castle) and perform the joyous activity of crafting and buying 100 hp Potions or does someone know of a good cheese tactic for this unexpectedly grueling and utterly ludicrous final encounter?

If there is no adequate cheese available, how many hp Potions does this final insult require?

Many thanks for your help, would really like to see the end credits :)

I just looked at two Youtube vids where they deal with this battle quite easily. They both use an archer and have summoned insects. I haven't had an archer option all game and where does the summoned insect/crab come from? I left the spell-caster guy with the golden hair out my party and he could summon, but it was a weak fire elemental, not insects/crabs. I can bump my summon spell up, but how do you do it without a specialist archer?

Hmm... thats bad, the highest tier shot from archers is very powerful; the crab and the insects are highpowerd summon animal spells; to have a summon who can soak up some damage will help; other then that the use of the healing spell is important, especially the healing of wounds. The Warrior-Ability Knockdown will help against the mage IIRC.

No reason not to train Forgrimm and Ardo in crossbow & marksman since they have tons of excess EP as fighters.

There's Summon djinn & Skeletarius spells and both are much better than Fire elemental.

Just kite the statue and throw stars and thunderbolts at it, it's slow as fuck anyway. Or do Mortal Blow hit and run attacks.

But anyway sounds like you are just unprepared for the battle.

Yeah, right at the beginning it gave you a choice of who to save, a wizard or an archer - it implied you could save them both. I ran towards the archer but the door wouldn't let me in, so I went for the wizard. When we went to rescue the archer it told us she died! It put me on a bad foot for the entire game.

I thought about specialising in bows, or putting another team member into bows, but never needed to. I always found a way, and very rarely did I need potions, or that many, just one or two. I never even used Cano's enchantment after the first time as I only ever really had problems with Too Many Animals or End Bosses, the sleep spell providing that aspect of crowd control. So, yeah, I figured you didn't need an archer and was always quite strapped for Adventure Points anyway (though I do have about 1000 spare now locked-in at the end, so I could go back and make one or two people archers I suppose).

Is the summon crab/insect a class-specific thing? Is it basically a neat trick of that archer lady?

Be warned though, it's got the most appalling camera controls of any game I've ever played... Makes DA/NWN look like panoramic steady-cam. Itemisation is also shit but someone might bleat on about crafting...

A word of warning - I've got mine from Amazon and couldn't even get it to run, aparently the english version can be problematic (people on steam complained about the same "black screen of game not starting" too).

I must have been lucky (?) no bugs or problems here with regards to tech, bought it off ebay.

the use of the healing spell is important, especially the healing of wounds.

Also, I've been wanting to ask about this the entire game but have held off for fear of spoilers, but, I have the heal spell and I have about 12 points in it. It takes up a huge amount of Astral Energy, takes ages to cast, hardly heals anything and never, and I repeat, never heals any wounds as per its description. And yet every time I read a RoT guide or thread it bleats on about this spell. I haven't used it all game. What am I doing wrong with this spell?

Edit: haven't used it all game meaning I've used it in battles where I've likely reloaded to see if that was the problem and out of combat to try and heal woulds to save myself bandage time.

You didn't forget to use modifiers, did you?
Might also explain why your summon is too weak.

(considering the skeleton summon - I don't remember shit about the trainers in TRoT, sorry)

Forget? I don't even know what you're talking about, lol. What's a modifier? I was just going by what the spell says on it's description...

I bought the Steam version, which had no problems in my case.

I didn't have many problems with the final fight, but I had enough potions, most of my people had archery, and I tried to hit the statue in the back. By the way, after the fight you can get lots of exposition, if you want. just ask the people standing there.

Is it some Dark Eye thing that they assume you're going to know before playing? (this is my first Dark Eye, went in blind for fear of spoilers).
