Compared to Homeworld, Nexus was crap.

thank you for reminding us that these tags are there for a good reason indeed.

I think you all are just big graphics and effects fags. That was the only good side of this game.
and you're just a dribbling moron.
Nexus was a well made game, unique in gameplay & style and challenging.
And it also looked good for what was worth.
Easily one of the best games of the decade.

Nexus just updated on steam of all things. From what I understand it's a beta update not available for the everybody.

To access the beta please do the following:
Follow this guide http://ds.nordicgames.at/SteamBetaBranchGuide.jpg
Under Step 1 select "Nexus: The Jupiter Incident"
There is no password needed
The branch for Step 6 is named community

What we did:
-) Added German and Russian localization files (including audio)
-) Added DX9 runtime install
-) Improved the install script so that language changing and run as admin works
-) Extracted all the data from the nexus_00.dap and nexus_00.dat (more mod friendly)
-) Failed to find Steam should be gone.

We would like to do even more but unfortunately the source code seems lost and without that much more isnt really possible I am afraid.
Please let me know if you see any issues with this update.

this is something i'll never believe, "we can't find the source code".
every time i wrote something i kept all the drafts and made multiple backups on different hds because reasons. and all i wrote were a shitty novel and some shitty articles. if i ever had to do something so massive as creating a videogame, i'd even keep multiple computers with multiple backups on different hds each.

Yes...and then 10 or 20 years pass since the last time you touched it. The hard drives you stored data from that era on are now buried under the corpses of a dozen dead computers. It doesn't even have a SATA connector, so you can't connect it to your computer without finding a special doohickey. You've got like 50 of these drives lying around, half of which are inoperable. The drive which actually has the data turns out to have been on a computer you gave to a friend's kid 5 years ago. He reformatted it for his porn collection.

So yeah, you can't find the source code.

Every so often, the story has a happy ending: 5 years from now, the backup drive will be found in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet, in the back of a disused lavatory marked "BEWARE OF THE LEOPARD". The Earth is demolished the next day.
