And that's all folks. During the month following that issue, Micah Wright's fabricated military history was blown open (he used it to promote a book of his of shopped propaganda posters, you've probably seen some of those, those books were completely unaffiliated with DC and WildStorm), and DC moved to punish him by cancelling Team Achilles across the board (further prints of first two TPBs cut, upcoming third TPB pulled from the presses, series cancelled, Wright fired).

Team Achilles would be gone forever, with the exception of a handful of barely there mentions and a short appearance later on.

I don't know why they had to cancel his line.

Did Stormwatch sell poorly or something? Whatever his background is, as long as this dude moves the comics off the shelves, it should be a good thing.

Wait, they killed their best series over that? Cunts. You'd think they wouldn't leave people hangin' like that.

I can sort of see what they were trying to do with TA, specifically with Santini, the normal down-to-earth guy vs those uppity Authority, but then every single person on that team is completely unsympathetic and half of them each has an even bigger stick up his ass than the entire Authority combined.

Still I don't understand what possessed DC to kill off the series. What happened to changing writers? It's not as if they haven't done this a zillion times already with other series.

What happened was that Wright LIED TO AMERICA and therefore had to be punished!

It had probably more to do with biz side than morals... Wildstorm wasn't looking to be very profitable, so they just identified an opportunity to cut some costs. A damn shame but, bah. We all know how it ended anyway.

Well, WildStorm was know for publishing comics that were critical successes and economic disasters.

DC did fuck over WildStorm on several occasions though after they acquired them.
