Approving games that aren't ready to be released is sort of pointless, so I don't expect Steam to consider it at this point.

But they've already done it. The result was that they simply greenlit more games to include some more that ARE ready to be released.

WTF, Drakensang:TRoT is on Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=106180446

Before you comment about this game already being on Steam, read this please!
This game is available on Steam in certain regions ONLY (I.e., North America, maybe South America). It is on Steam in those regions as THQ have published it on Steam under their Valusoft label. However, THQ do not have the license to sell the game to the Rest of the World (ROW).

DTP, who have placed this game on Greenlight, have the ROW license. Unfortunately, there is no longer a channel for them to use to get the game on Steam without it going through Greenlight. This is why the game is on Greenlight.

If you can buy the game on Steam already, you're lucky. Please remember that most of Steam's customers are not as lucky as you and cannot purchase the game on Steam.

Thank you.

You would think the most honorable God Gaben wouldn't bother making them go through Greenlight.

Yeah, very weird scenario.... their sales must be really bad if they have to prove their worth...
I think the differences have more to do with that this game is in publisher/distributor hell. I'm not sure how many it has, depending on countries.

So I finally got a steam account with which I am able to vote, thanks to MhC and his RPG Codex 2012 Christmas giftstravaganza, and as I wanted to give my support to some of the promising games which possibly struggle to get greenlighted I voted for:

Age of Decadence
Underrail
Eador
Antharion

So are there any more promising games that need my vote or is that it?

Hello Sir,

I voted besides AoD also for The Light, Asylum and Ancients of the Abyss (what a name!).

It's like Ultima, but in (faux-)Texas. It's even got the "Name-Job-Bye" routine, and text parser input! I'm following the ongoing Let's Play at SomethingAwful (I just haven't got the time to play it myself at the moment, unfortunately), and the game has been really great thus far. Some typos here and there, but the writing and atmosphere are more than solid.

Just another stupid question... Is it sufficient to just click yes on: "Would you buy this game if it were available in Steam?" or do I need to do something more to "greenlight" a game? What does adding it to favorites do?

You can Favorite it too, though I'm not sure if that affects its chances of getting Greenlit.

I don't think it increases the chances of something being greenlit either, but favoriting something does give you Steam message alerts if a favorited game posts an update IIRC.

Hey, that means youtube video embeded inside Steam don't get views... the AoD is still as 20k views, but it plays automatically when you see their page, should have more than 200k by now...
