Welcome my friends. Welcome in the bastard offspring LP of the most awesome post-ITZ RPG-strategy game hybrid LP that has graced the pages of our prestigious magazine. If by any chance you've no idea what the hell I'm talking about (yeah, right) visit NOW Hümmelgümpf's and WhiskeyWolf's famous Gahahaha, let's play Sengoku Rance! (NSFW)
This LP has been brought to you by Mrowak Ltd. all rights reserved.
Update 0: Da Rulez
Update I, part I: Shocking turn of events (not really)
Update I, part II: Ninja'd
Update II: Burning (?) some furrfags.
Update III: Revelations
Update IV: Clash with the Dragon... and her love. Update V: Tiger's Lair - the ultimate reap (not!) now!
Update VI: Headhunting and farewells.
Update VII: Those who fight further!
Update VIII: Obstacles
Update IX: Disappointments
MEGA Update X: You thought this was over, didn't you?
Update XI, MEGAUPDATE II – Unifying JAPAN!!!
The LP your humble servant is undertaking is so called "second game". This means unlike "first game" I as I player am permited to pick certain bonuses before embarking on the adventure. The number of bonuses available depends on your achievements in previous playthrough e.g. whether you found certain artefacts or not or if you managed to secure loyalty of certain important figures in the previous games.
Also the number of points you have which are used for buying the bonuses is determined by your previous performance as well. I used to have a save with over 200 points (a joint effort of me and my sister). This one unfortunately been lost and attempts to reclaim it from my old craptop turned out to be futile. All thanks to you sis
I've already attempted to conduct a poll regarding which setting to choose in WW's LP but the feedback was a little bit too underwhelming. Hence, with 119 points I've made the following choices myself.
Difficulty level. I went with the highest possible setting to spice things up. Frankly I'm starting to regret doing this now. The game can get hard on the default level but goes all out racist now.
Picking this option means:
1) Our enemies will practically always have greater men-power no matter what we'll do:
To illustrate the point let's have a look at enemies' army-size progression in comparison to ours:
Note the turn count.
2)Tougher dungeons with stronger high-level mosters.
and most importantly 3) You enemies have more action fans and use it more wisely. This means they attack you more than once each turn.
Family bonus. I picked Additional Characters and Youkai family bonus. Youkais are strong and they prove valuable asset now. The minor downside is we are forced into the war with their kingdom for no apparent reason.
Extra characters offer more (back)story fluff though one has to say it - they are not very powerful.
Special character bonus - extra characters with no story significance, I picked only three since the youkais chosen with the previous option already offer stubstantial addition to our army.
Next are item bonuses. They go as follows:
Here the most important items by far are:
Popularity Staff - which rises your unit size per 20 each turn if equipped,
Guts Armor - absorbs 100 points of damage
Three Golden Statues - each nets us 10% more earnings each turn.
And last but not least various bonuses. I opted for the following:
Extra Action fan is a must for our game.
Same with operation permits - special items which allow your unit to act independently and fight for your territories. The downside is - the unit must have over 1000 soldiers in it for them to become equippable.
Additional national power will let us sustain larger army. On lower difficulty levels this bonus does not seem to help much as you can maintain sizeable force only with conquest. Not so in the game we are playing. I found the constant struggle to keep up with your opponents in terms of money/national power/army size to be the most aggreviating but all the same fascinating part of the current game. Even with the bonuses I'm still having hard time enlarging my troop-count.
This Lp will mostly cover the second phase of the game, which, you've guessed it, will focus on the character of Uesugi Kenshin.
However, prior to that I will show some things that happened differently in my playthrough in comparison to WhiskeyWolf's - some new characters will join us, we will fulfill certain objectives differently and so on - all in the name of C&C. So, it will take 2-3 updates before we start Kenshin route proper.
One more thing - I know what you've guys come here for. Yes, low quality tongue in cheek anime pr0n shall also be delivered... with one exception
Without further ado...
Next (real) update soon
