These are the basic skills/statistics/conventions/devices featured in Master Creating's cyberpunk themed Action RPG, Restricted Area.

The Basics

  • Credits: Credits are the currency of the future and they remain as the only existing type of currency. The credit-card fits in every pocket and as such, every citizen owns one. Normally, it isn't necessary to have more than one, as each credit card can accommodate 250 million credits.
  • Jason's Ship: Jason's vehicle serves as a storage facility for stuff that the player doesn't need on his body at the time. To guarantee that enough space is always available, Jason's vehicle has 3 storage characters exclusive for the current character, and an additional storage compartment to trade with the other characters.
  • Medikits: Every character is allowed to carry 10 Medikits without any disadvantage at any given time. Additional Medikits cost inventory space.
  • Mission Log: In the mission log, your are able to review your adopted missions, their status, the possibility to delete them. Be careful with the 'back to the city' button, as it will cost you reputation each time you use it.
  • Reputation: Every character has his own reputation, which is extremely important when you deal with Mr. Smith. Top (and well paid) missions are only available to the top dogs. Your reputation is increased upon the completion of any kind of mission.
  • Tolerance: Tolerance shows you the number of tolerable implants in your body. Strength x 5 Every implant costs you tolerance points. Your body can only accept a few cyber implants. You can't use more implants than your body can tolerate. Biogenetics implants have the advantage that the Doc can transform them into the DNA of the character. After the transformation, the implant will not cost any tolerance points. Tip: Victoria loses a tolerance point for every 5 points of PSI energy. Genetically optimized Bioware have no negative effects for Victoria's PSI energy.
  • Armour: There exists two kinds of armour: close combat armour and ballistic armour. Close combat armour prevents your character from taking damage in melee combat. In contrast, ballistic armour protects your character against all kinds of projectile weapons.
A little example how the system works: Your character receives 100 damage points. You have two implants, each of which decreases 50% of the damage. But this does not mean that the damage is 100% blocked. It means that every implant reduces the damage that remains. So the first one reduces it from 100 damage points to 50 and the second from 50 to 25.
  • Resistor: Reduces the damage taken by the character. For example, a Resistor of 10 would decrease the remaining 25 points of damage to 15 points.
  • Toxic Resistant: Some enemies have the possibility to contaminate and poison the character. Toxic resistance decreases the damage taken.
  • Evade: Before any damage is caused to the character, there is a calculation pertaining to the success of the attack. With a high evade score, it is possible to survive many attacks even with a weak amour. The higher the evade score, the less likely it is for the player to be successfully hit.
  • Accommodate Handle: It is in other words weapon proficiency. Attack ability, minimum and maximum damage are increased by 20% when the accommodated character uses a weapon with which he is proficient in using. All other characters have a 25% disadvantage.
  • Weapon Upgrade: Every weapon can upgraded ten times per game. The weapon skills increase the calculation of all its bonuses.
  • Weapon Modify: Special weapons are modifiable. Simply talk to Dee and choose in the drop down menu the modification of your choice. It's as simple as that. Unfortunately, you also have to pay for this service. Cyberspace: Jessica Parke is the only character that is able to enter the Cyberspace. And because she is a hacker, she has only a few minutes or seconds to reach her goal (e.g. to download secret documents or hack into bank accounts). While she is in the Cyberspace, Anti-Hacker-Software will attempt to eliminate her, so be careful.
In addition to that, the Cyberspace offers a second very important resource: nodal points. With these points, Jessica is able to control special machines in the real world for example an automated machine gun turret.
Note: Nodal points can be only used for the current mission and cannot be brought over into the next mission. New mission , new hack in the cyberspace ...

The last kind of special resources within the Cyberspace are secret blueprints, which allow Jessica to build various modifications into her weapons and cyberware.
  • Experience:Your character earns experience points for successfully completing missions and for killing mutants. When your character reaches the required amount of experience which he or she needs to advance, you can achieve a higher rank that allows you to allot some points in the character screen.
