For KOTOR, Bioware could have given us a linear, chimerical storyline that may have been great, but not necessarily in line with the Star Wars universe. Instead, Bioware promises us a story that is not only contains significantly differing branches, but is of such large scale that it will inescapably shake-up the Star Wars universe like never before. And don't worry about authenticity. Bioware has George's personal blessing, and you can be confident that everything is approved and critiqued by LucasArts. If you can't trust them, whom can you trust?
Authenticity wasn't seen much in the recent Star Wars movies, so I'm not sure that personal blessing goes much beyond, Will it make lots of money?
