Tags: Icewind Dale 2RPG Vault has posted their review on BIS's latest dungeon crawl, Icewind Dale 2. It mentions the usual things you've come to see from reviews of this game, it's linear, it's 3E, the Infinity Engine may be dead, it's filled with combat, and so on. Here's a taste, though:
You may also be reloading a lot. Occasionally, certain scripted combats tip the scales a little further than what some would consider fair. Many encounters pick on the vulnerabilities inherent in any party. Some might consider it a challenge to have to protect your low hitpoint casters from swarming brutes that come from all directions at once but after multiple unsuccessful repetitions, it can get a little tiresome. Overcoming these situations can be rewarding, making them part of the fun. However, if you don't like a lot of combat and reloading in your role-playing games, consider yourself warned.
That would be a good reason to have implimented the optional Unconcious status at 0 Hit Points and Death at -10 or below.
