When it comes time to enter into "Aggressive Negotiation", there are several ways you can approach things. You'll have a party of three characters (maximum), composed of any race from droids to Wookies. At any given time any character can be the lead character (the one that you control), but your basic created character from the beginning has to at least be in your party. In battle, you?ll be able to assign your characters either basic commands (i.e. "Stand and Guard") or a sequence of battle orders (up to four actions). Depending on timing in the battle, your characters will execute the sequence until it's over, or until you assign another. These sequences can be assigned to the two secondary characters in your party via the pause menu, and can be executed by your main character by the normal pushing of buttons.
Orders beats full control, hands down.
