PC.IGN has posted a developer diary of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. This one covers character animation graphics. Here's a taste:

What may be surprising though is the work that's required to achieve those fine details. For example, each of the character models in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has over 50 "bones" that can be independently animated to articulate a part of its body. This includes the obvious ones, such as arm and leg bones, but also includes bones for animating the curve of the back, the collarbones, and even bones for separately animating each of the character's fingers. There are also 13 bones in the character faces in addition to moving eyes and eyelids to allow a wide range of expressions, which lets our characters really "act" throughout the game.

Great! So the characters can act, but the question is, can you act a character?

Spotted this at HomeLAN Fed.
